Argentina: Judge Asked to Bar Clarin from Enrolling Cable TV Customers

Argentina's broadcasting regulatory agency has formalized a request to a federal judge to prohibit the Clarin group from signing up new subscribers to its cablevision service. The agency argued that that the powerful Clarin Group, the country's largest media conglomerate, already exceeds the 35% market share allowed by the Audiovisual Media Law thereby violating anti-trust provisions in the legislation.
