Colombia: Atty Gen. asks for 20 year sentence for ex-intelligence head

The Colombian Attorney General's office has asked for a 20 year jail sentence for the former chief of the country's intelligence services, Maria del Pilar Hurtado. Last week, the Colombian Supreme Court found Hurtado, an official in the previous presidential administration of Alvaro Uribe, guilty of spying on judges, journalists, human rights advocates, and opposition leaders. A 10-year jail sentence is being sought for another close Uribe aide, Bernardo Moreno, for illegally soliciting information from intelligence officials.
