The speed and ease of flash video has revolutionized the distribution of media on the Internet. One will notice, however, the occasional interruption of a video by a small non-threatening buffering or loading animation. These minor interruptions go almost unnoticed, but one might go so far as to call them brief moments of Zen in an otherwise hectic existence; like a sneeze.
Zen for YouTube picks up where Nam June Paik left off: an expansion of negative space for the Internet generation. By aestheticizing loading graphic iconography, I aim to explore the error, to exploit the interruption.
