"Children are the hands by which we take hold of heaven." Henry Beecher.
Children are born with amazing gifts, nature creates us whole. As we grow, we begin to learn behaviors and pick up beliefs that are somewhat detrimental to our nature. in this video I want to encourage to remember how it is to be like a child again.
In this exercise I want to highlight some of the characteristics that we are naturally endowed with, I want you to take your time to think about how remembering what it was like to have these characteristics, how they benefit your life in such a natural way.
Here are 5 characteristics I picked for this video that I felt all children have:
- Self Esteem: Children think of themselves highly, they don't doubt for a minute they are special. As we get older we tend to start believing that we are not worthy of having good things in life, we believe that we are not worthy of praise or love. Let us look back at how natural it was for us to love ourselves, let us appreciate our own unique personalities and how our differences are a gift rather than a cause to separate us from anybody else.
- Imagination: children have incredible amounts of creativity and imagination. These 2 gifts are incredible useful and as with self esteem, are gifts we are naturally endowed with. As we become older, we are usually "taught" there's a certain way to do things, rules need to be followed and things work only when they followed a specific order. It is usually at this stage that we begin to lose our sense of creativity, we choose to follow guidelines for everything and accept preconceived concepts as the only truth.
- Sense of Wonder: Children look at everything with pure eyes and are amazed at all the little things, somehow we forget this sense of wonder as we get older. We become so accustomed with our surroundings and events in our life that we seem to become "numb" to the miracle of life. Let us view a sunset or a flower like it was the first time we ever saw them.
- Kindness: Children are kind and lovable. What can I say more? kindness and love are natural states of being, we become so overwhelmed with work, lists of things to do and daily activities that we forget sometimes to stop and say a kind word to our family, friends, co-workers or even a stranger.
- Simple Rules: Children live by simple rules; they don't complicate their lives with silly ideas and complicated rules as we do.
I encourage to become a child again, to learn from their wisdom.
