"We are what we think, with our mind we create our own world" Buddha.
The way we grow up, where we grow up and the culture in which we grow up have a huge influence in our lives. Our parents, teachers and friends are where pick up most of our values, ideas and goals. It is said that we are not who we are, until we decide who we are. This is the reason why most people go through a process of "self discovery" as they get older. At some point of our lives, we realize that we need to discover ourselves, to decide what really makes sense and what makes us happy. The reason for this is because most of the things we believe, most of the things we value and ideas we have, are values and ideas we picked up from our parents, friends and our circle of influence. they are really not our own, we didn't sit down one day and decided: "This is what I am going to believe, these will be my values" Making a choice of what we "choose" to believe and discard those ideas that are not helping us grow and move forward is essential in order to succeed in any endeavour.
This exercise will help you evaluate your mental patters of unconscious beliefs, it will help you see the associations you have made about certain things in life and will empower you to make the changes necessary to interrupt your negative patterns.
This exercise is broken down into 4 steps:
Step 1: Make a list of all your negative beliefs. Write down every possible thing you believe that has a negative connotation, we usually know what we feel negative about, it is easy to see since we tend to dislike any activity associated with this belief.
Step 2: Evaluate all these negative beliefs rationally. After you have a list. Start reading the list and trying to see what these beliefs really are.
Step 3: Write a positive belief. Write the same list but this time write each belief as a positive statement.
Step 4: Make a list of actions you need to take now in order to change your negative beliefs.
Take action and become aware of your beliefs, if you learn how to be aware and stay present, change is inevitable.
