Michael McIntyre, Lee Evans, Alan Carr, Kevin Bishop, Jack Dee and Shappi Khorsandi have presented Great Ormond Street Hospital with cheques for £869,492.

The money was raised from Channel 4's Comedy Gala at the O2. The massive event happened last month and featured 35 of the nation's favourite comedians and TV presenters.

Michael McIntyre said: "We had an amazing time. We went to the O2 which is the biggest venue in, I don't know, Europe, the world, beyond!"

The DVD is out on Monday and already £200,000 has been raised in advanced sales.

McIntyre urged fans to support the charity. He said: "If you buy it, you will help us get to over a million pounds which is a nice round number!"

The money raised will fund two new anaesthetic rooms, so parents can stay with their children right up until they go into the operating theatre.

Alan Carr also visited some of the children in the wards. He said: "I thought I'd be like sobbing, getting through tissues.

"But, it's so upbeat up there."
