00:00After spending two years in early access, Path of Exile 2 is finally getting ready for its full 1.0
00:07release, and Grinding Gear Games isn't treating this like just another update.
00:11On December 11th, players will get two new character classes, two additional campaign acts, a brand new League mechanic, and
00:18some significant changes to the endgame experience.
00:21The announcement came during ExileCon 2026 on November 6th, giving players a much clearer picture of what to expect when
00:29the sequel officially launches.
00:31So what exactly is coming with Path of Exiles 2 full release, and how much will this change the experience
00:37for both new and returning players?
00:39Let's take a look.
00:41One of the biggest additions coming with the 1.0 release is the introduction of two new character classes, the
00:47Shadow and the Duelist.
00:48The Shadow focuses on daggers, stealth, traps, and shadow clones that fight alongside the player.
00:55This gives the class some interesting options for players who enjoy a more tactical approach to combat.
01:01It also brings back familiar abilities from the original Path of Exile, including Blade Vortex and Fire Trap.
01:07The Duelist, meanwhile, introduces sword-based combat and brings back some fan-favorite abilities, including Cyclone and Hemorrhage.
01:15The players who enjoy these classes and abilities in the original game, their rival in the sequel should provide some
01:21familiar territory while giving them new ways to approach combat.
01:24And with two additional classes joining the roster, players will have even more options when deciding how they want to
01:30build their characters.
01:32The new classes aren't the only major additions.
01:36Path of Exile 2's 1.0 release will finally complete its campaign with the introduction of Acts 5 and 6.
01:42The story of Chasing the Beast continues, eventually bringing players back to O'Wraith and beyond.
01:48These additional acts will introduce new campaign locations and bosses, giving players more environments to explore and new challenges to
01:56overcome.
01:57But the bosses aren't limited to the campaign.
02:00They will also return throughout more than 25 new endgame maps, giving players additional encounters to experience after completing the
02:08story.
02:08For anyone who has been following Path of Exile 2 throughout Early Access, completing the campaign is an important milestone.
02:15It means the game is finally moving closer to delivering the complete experience that players have been waiting for.
02:22Another major part of the 1.0 launch is the introduction of a new league called Conquerors of Wraithlast.
02:28This league takes a different approach by incorporating base building, army recruitment, and territorial control into the experience.
02:35Players will be able to recruit soldiers and construct their own castle.
02:39Throughout the campaign, more than 70 points of interest will provide opportunities to recruit different types of soldiers.
02:46But here's where things get particularly interesting.
02:49Players won't necessarily have to complete every map themselves.
02:52They can send their commanders and armies to run maps on their behalf, converting gold into atlas progression and loot.
03:00This system will probably sound familiar to anyone who played the original Path of Exile, particularly those who experienced its
03:07King March mechanics.
03:09Players will also have to choose between three factions, Karui, Ezomite, and Maraketh.
03:14These factions will compete for control of castles scattered throughout the atlas.
03:18It's an interesting direction for the sequel because it adds another layer of strategy beyond simply building a character and
03:25fighting increasingly difficult enemies.
03:27Whether players enjoy the army management side of things remains to be seen, but it's certainly a substantial addition to
03:33the launch experience.
03:35For existing early access players, some of the biggest changes might actually come after completing the campaign.
03:41Grinding Gear Games is significantly reducing the size of the atlas passive tree.
03:46The current version has more than 300 nodes, but the 1.0 release will bring that number down to approximately
03:5270.
03:54Jewels are also being moved away from the tree's travel nodes and into the skill clusters themselves.
04:01Support gems are receiving an overhaul as well, with the individual elemental penetration gems being combined into a single gem.
04:08And there's more for players who enjoy experimenting with different character builds.
04:13More than 70 unique items are being reworked, while approximately 40 completely new unique items are being introduced.
04:20These changes can have a significant impact on how players approach character progression and endgame customization.
04:27For returning players, it also means some of the builds and strategies they become comfortable using might need to be
04:33reconsidered.
04:35One important thing worth mentioning is that the original Path of Exile isn't being abandoned when its sequel launches.
04:42Grinding Gear Games plans to continue supporting both games independently.
04:45In fact, the original Path of Exile has its own upcoming content.
04:49Its 3.30 League, Covens of Umbra, is scheduled to arrive on November 13th,
04:55giving players new content roughly four weeks before Path of Exile 2 reaches its 1.0 release.
05:02That's an important distinction because the sequel's arrival doesn't mean players have to leave the original game behind.
05:08Both experiences will continue to receive attention, giving the developers an opportunity to maintain two separate communities.
05:15December 11th is shaping up to be a pretty important day for Path of Exile 2.
05:19After two years in early access, the game is finally preparing to deliver its full 1.0 experience,
05:25with additional classes, a completed campaign, more endgame content,
05:30and a new league built around recruiting armies and controlling territory.
05:34What interests me most is how all these additions come together.
05:38The Shadow in Duelist provides more character options,
05:41Acts 5 and 6 give players more story content,
05:44and Conquerors of Great Class introduces a different approach to progression.
05:48At the same time, the changes to the atlas tree and unique items show that grinding gear games isn't simply
05:54adding content,
05:55it's also making adjustments to the systems players will be spending hundreds of hours interacting with.
06:01Of course, the real test will be how everything works once the full release arrives,
06:05but for a game that's been in early access for two years,
06:08December 11th represents a major milestone,
06:10and with the original Path of Exile continuing alongside it,
06:14fans of the franchise have plenty of reasons to keep an eye on what Grinding Gear Games has planned.
06:20What do you think about Path of Exile 2's upcoming 1.0 release?
06:24Are the new classes, completed campaign, and Conquerors of Great Class enough to get you interested,
06:29or are you waiting to see how the game develops after launch?
