00:00So, first of all, from the outside, it seems like that working with Ryan Murphy can draw you into a
00:06kind of like artistic family where you keep coming back and work with him.
00:10So, since both of you have collaborated with him more than once, what would you say is the defining characteristic
00:16of working with Ryan Murphy?
00:19Delicious dialogue.
00:20Yeah, you're going to get some spicy words and a good group of people.
00:25He really carefully picks the team around him, not just the cast, but, you know, all the technicians and the
00:34designers and the head of departments.
00:36They're all, it's a well-oiled machine.
00:40Yeah, and of course, glamour plays a part, plays a significant role in the series.
00:45Do you think that a structured, carefully curated look not only reflects the woman making those fashion choices, but also
00:53serves as a form of encouragement, as a way to boost her self-confidence?
00:58And what would your character say about this?
01:02You know what, I do think, you know, the clothes that you wear can affect how you feel.
01:08You know, and that's why I tell my girls, I have daughters, and I say, put on clothes that make
01:14you happy.
01:14Because there are a lot of things happening in the world that you can get down about.
01:18But if you walk past the mirror and you take a look at your good outfit, you're like, oh, girl,
01:23you did that.
01:23So I love that it can affect your mood and, you know, how you're feeling.
01:32Yeah, what would your character say about all these aspects?
01:35Dressing is self-expression, how you present yourself to the world.
01:41You know, and I like to take risks probably more as I've gotten older with fashion.
01:48I've gone through different stages of fashion throughout my life, depending on where I was emotionally and, you know, how
01:58I felt.
01:59But, yeah, it is about confidence and how you feel.
02:04Sometimes you don't want the outfit to be drawing attention, and you just want to be comfortable.
02:09Well, I mean, put me in a nice, comfortable shoe and an elastic waistband, and I'm a good nerd.
02:16But I also, there's time and place, you know, like for this, like tomorrow night, we will go out to
02:24that red carpet and give something that, you know, we've put effort and time and thought into.
02:31So, yeah, I'm up for all kinds of different ways of dressing.
02:36Right.
02:38And talking about season two of World's Fair, we were introduced to Emerald and Liberty in the first season, seeing
02:44both their vulnerabilities and their strengths.
02:47Was your approach to this character different this second season, and how has your own journey as actresses evolved alongside
02:54theirs?
02:56I would say, you know, for Emerald, she's leaning into some things that she hasn't before, and it's very satiating
03:11to play something that your character has never done before.
03:15You know, because you're like, ooh, this is new.
03:17How is she going to feel about it?
03:19How is she going to relate to it?
03:20You know, you got new stuff this season, too.
03:22Yeah, she's definitely moving in different territories and satiated.
03:30That's all I'll say.
03:32But, yeah, as an actor, I feel like, you know, both of us have been doing this for decades now.
03:38We love what we do.
03:39I mean, I think I can speak for both of us.
03:41And we're still learning.
03:43We're, you know, putting different characters with different people and different kinds of projects.
03:52And it's always, you're always hopefully changing or evolving.
03:58Yeah.
03:58Yeah.
03:59And one last question for you.
04:00If you hadn't been cast as Liberty or Emerald, which other character from the series would you have liked to
04:06play?
04:07I would have liked to play Car.
04:09Yeah, I was going to say the exact same thing.
04:12Yeah.
04:12I mean, who doesn't want to, you know, chew it up?
04:15I mean, who doesn't want to, you know, chew it up, you know, chew it up, you know, chew it
04:18up.
