00:13I am a Mexican immigrant to the U.S. that entered a career in Wall Street 35 years ago
00:22and established my own firm that created opportunities for investment for international
00:29clients that normally don't have that access. In the course of the past 35 years, I've also
00:37encountered that I needed to balance my professional life with other endeavors and give
00:43back to everybody that gave to me. I need to pass it down. So I've procured teaching others
00:52about empowerment, about integrity, and how to be better persons in the society.
01:04I worked for an industrial park developer in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, doing financial analysis
01:11in 1986. I was 19. This one, I like leading. So being a CEO of a company that I founded,
01:23it's incredibly rewarding, challenging every day. But given my personality, I'd rather be scared than bored.
01:32The company has 30 employees that work with about 50 independent advisors all over Latin America.
01:41We have about $1.5 billion in assets under custody or management with about 2,000 accounts.
01:53Well, I got to first own my own stuff and recognize what was not mine so that I would not
02:03get entangled
02:04with somebody that thinks differently or operates differently than myself. So, and I had a choice to
02:13either work with that person or walk away. Sometimes I walked away and sometimes I agreed to disagree and
02:21figure out what ways that we had some things in common and move along. But sometimes if it was too
02:27much,
02:27it's okay to get off the table and walk away.
02:34My word is my bond. I do what I say and I say what I do.
02:42Loving honesty. Somebody that loves me so much to tell me my truth, even if I don't want to hear
02:47it.
