At least in our neck of the woods, the weather outside right now blows. If you don't have a real kitten to nuzzle up with in your apartment (or even if you do!), we've got a DIY that'll not only distract you from your cabin fever, but also score you a new sweatshirt in the process. Watch as Chloe shows you how to stitch up your own cat sweatshirt in a few easy steps.

00:03Hi guys I'm Chloe with Refinery29 and today we'll be making a cheeky cat
00:08sweatshirt. At R29 we've been a little cat obsessed lately so today we're gonna
00:13make our own sweatshirt with a cat on the front and it's really easy so let's
00:17get started. What you'll need is a gray sweatshirt, flat front no zips, embroidery
00:21thread, gems and a needle, pen, scissors, a tape measure, and glue. So for your
00:32first step you're gonna take the tape measure and I'm gonna measure it in the
00:35center and then you want to take your pen I'm gonna figure out where to put the
00:40nose in the center and you'll just kind of want to eyeball it I'm gonna put a dot
00:46about seven and a half inches down and then I'm gonna draw a little heart then
00:53you want to place the tape measure down again and kind of go about an inch and a
00:59half above the nose and do a dot on either side and this is gonna be the
01:06end point of the eye and then you're just gonna want to kind of really lightly
01:10sketch it you can use a pencil or even fabric marker if you're not comfortable
01:14I'm no artist but I'm just gonna kind of eyeball it it's not supposed to be
01:17perfect let's be kind of fun and quirky now you'll want to draw a circle inside
01:24and then you want to do a third ring inside the eye all right so once you have
01:28the eyes done then you want to draw a little triangle above each eye for the
01:32ear and then you want to draw whiskers down below the nose now take your embroidery
01:38thread and start sewing on the stitches cut about a foot of embroidery thread and
01:43then I'm gonna double knot the end and I'm gonna work from the top of the
01:47sweatshirt so it's easiest to go in and out and you can do larger or smaller
01:52stitches whatever you feel like I'm gonna do about maybe a centimeter two
01:58centimeters just vary it it's more fun if it's a little different and not perfect
02:04and you'll want to go ahead and keep sewing till you've outlined the whole cap and
02:09you just want to go ahead and knot it on the inside trim your edges now we're
02:15gonna add our gems take your fabric glue start filling it in these gems are
02:22really tiny so stick them on with my finger and you want to keep reapplying glue as you go
02:33and I found it helpful to use your needle to help place the gems after I do the nose
02:40I'm gonna do the eyes filling with black gems so this is a great way to take an
02:45old sweatshirt that you maybe don't wear anymore and add a little bit of quirk to
02:49it I don't especially love cats but I really am in love with it it's really fun
02:53and quirky and adds a little bit of attitude to dress pants or jeans
