00:09Hi, I'm Sue from Refinery29. Today I'm going to show you how to transform your plain white tee
00:14into a summer masterpiece using only one white t-shirt and a pair of scissors, two things you
00:19probably already own. Today you'll need a plain white t-shirt. It's best if it's slightly oversized,
00:24a pair of scissors, and 10 to 15 minutes depending on how quick and careful you are.
00:29Next, fold the shirt up about two inches. It doesn't have to be perfect, but the important
00:33thing is that both sides are the exact same length. Once it's folded, you're going to cut a triangle
00:38about a half an inch away from your first side. Once you've cut your first triangle,
00:46you're going to continue every half inch across the entire fold.
00:56Next, fold your t-shirt up so the complete row of diamonds is showing and you have about
01:01a half an inch below the point of each diamond. Cut a new row of triangles in between the space
01:06left by your first row of diamonds. Keep repeating the same cutting and folding step until you reach
01:16the neckline. It's basically like when you were a kid and cut snowflakes out of paper.
01:22As you can see, it's starting to look pretty cool. As you're cutting, feel free to think
01:26about all the cool outfits you're going to style with your new favorite t-shirt.
01:31This is what it'll look like when you're almost finished.
01:38Be extra cautious when you're cutting around the neckline. You don't want to cut the piece of fabric
01:41around your neck. Avoid the sleeves while you're cutting. The shirt looks better with the sleeves
01:47intact. For the tricky parts around the neckline, you're going to fold the fabric and cut a half
01:53an inch above the triangle below. You're going to tailor your cut so that it can go perfectly around the
02:03curve.
02:08You can always clean up your edges later. Cut just up until the neckline sleeves and bottom of the t
02:15-shirt,
02:16leaving all three intact. And voila, you have a totally designer looking t-shirt that could be Kenzo,
02:22but it actually came from a three-pack at Target. And now for the fun part, styling it.
