00:00What's up? I'm Khalees and welcome to My Sweet Dicks.
00:03My apartment is, I guess you'd say it's a decent size for a New York City apartment.
00:08I literally don't have any clue how much square footage it is because I've never seen a floor plan in
00:12my life.
00:13Shout out to my landlord.
00:14But it's two bedrooms, two bathrooms.
00:17I have a washer and dryer, a very decent living and kitchen space, and a backyard.
00:23I pay $3,000 a month.
00:25I split it obviously between me and my roommate.
00:28My portion is $15.50 because I have a slightly bigger room and a closet.
00:33I'm a freelance creative.
00:34I model, currently working on a brand that I plan to be launching soon, fingers crossed,
00:39and also trying to get into acting.
00:41My apartment is, I like to say it's on the cusp of Bushwick and Bed-Stuy.
00:45Basically, I'm half a block over from Broadway and that's what kind of differentiates Bushwick
00:50versus Bed-Stuy.
00:51But the way my street is set up, it's like 95% brownstone.
00:54So I still like to say I live in Bed-Stuy because it doesn't look like Bushwick at all.
01:04One of my favorite features of the apartment is the open shelving in my kitchen.
01:08So these stackable plates and bowls from CB2 were super affordable.
01:13I think the plates were around like two to three dollars each.
01:16I spent a little bit more money on the Away stackable cups.
01:20They're like dishwasher safe.
01:21They don't really break.
01:22I've been able to enjoy some new cooking ware that I got when I moved in.
01:26I have a really cool Great Jones kind of cast iron pot.
01:30And I love cooking just like meats and stews and soups and just like mussels.
01:35And then I have an always pan, which is really cool because it's like a nonstick,
01:39non-toxic pan that you can literally use for everything.
01:41It has like a cool little like wooden spatula that sits perfectly on the handle.
01:46I don't really have a dining table yet.
01:48We're still trying to find one that works in the little bit of space that we do have.
01:52But we typically just eat here on the island, which is really cool.
01:55Again, it opens up the space or we'll eat in the backyard.
01:57I have like a cool little just like chill IKEA picnic table situation set up back there.
02:02So the space I'm currently sitting in is obviously my living room, my living space.
02:06I wanted it to feel very just like comfortable, very peaceful, some type of serenity.
02:13I knew that when I moved into this apartment that I wanted a very big comfortable white couch.
02:18It's a custom West Elm couch.
02:21It was approximately 3000.
02:24So it's definitely one of the things that I invested a lot of money into.
02:28And I'm very just super cautious, obviously, because it's white.
02:32So I don't eat on it.
02:33I chose these because they're just very chill.
02:36Like the rest of the collection is very bold and like there's some really unique colors.
02:40But again, I have a lot of other elements of bold color, so I didn't want it to clash too
02:43much.
02:44They're at an accessible price point.
02:46I really love the ombre one because it feels just like so soft.
02:49It's almost like a velvet kind of texture.
02:56Now I'm a plant mom, you know, I don't have any pets.
02:59I do dog sit my boyfriend's dog on occasion.
03:03So this is like my responsibility.
03:05These are my children for the time being.
03:07Bo is 16 years old.
03:09I'm not sure exactly how many years that is in dog years, but he basically is a senior citizen.
03:14He is blind and a little deaf and has some kidney problems, but he's a fighter and we love him
03:21so much.
03:21I'm not sure.
03:24Let me show you guys into my closet.
03:26It's not the biggest space, but it holds everything that I need seasonally.
03:30As you can see, I have a lot of shoes, but this actually isn't all that I own.
03:34I'm just like a sneaker head.
03:36I've been collecting sneakers since I've been in middle school.
03:39I got my first job at 15 working at Aeropostale because my mom was just like,
03:43all right, if you want all these sneakers, you're going to have to pay for them yourself.
03:46And I was like, no problem.
03:48I thought I was doing a lot making $10 an hour.
03:51I mainly invested most of my money into the living space and everything in here is just
03:56like obviously super affordable.
03:58I plan to like switch it up later on, but for now, this is good.
04:02I like to keep the scents and the vibes, you know, very relaxed, very chill.
04:06Here I have the R29 home throw, super cute.
04:10And I also have the R29 comforter.
04:12I layered it up with my duvet.
04:15It's super, super soft.
04:17Again, these are like really accessible price points.
04:19It has like a textured feel, but it also is really, really comfortable.
04:23And it also comes with matching pillowcases.
04:33So now we're in the bathroom and if you live in New York like me,
04:36then you know having your own bathroom is really like a luxury
04:39and it makes you feel like you almost live by yourself.
04:41So my shower is like a glass door situation, which I think is really cool.
04:45The only part that's kind of annoying is sometimes I want to just lay down and take a bath after
04:50like a long stressful week.
04:53So because I don't have a medicine cabinet, I have to keep most of my products on my bathroom
04:58sink counter.
04:59I basically have these new serums from Glossier.
05:03My roommate actually works for Glossier.
05:04So shout out to her for getting me some products.
05:06Pretty serious when it comes to the skincare game.
05:09So I know I said I had a two bedroom and two bathroom,
05:12but my roommate kind of just moved in and she's still getting settled.
05:15So we'll skip that part for now.
05:16But let's head out to the backyard.
05:18Since we're on the first floor, we're the only ones that have access to the backyard,
05:22which is really nice to be able to like come out here.
05:24You can work, can eat, can hang out with some friends.
05:27I got this like Ikea picnic table.
05:30I think it was around like $500.
05:33Funny story.
05:34So I put up these lights and I have them really extending back and forth along the fence.
05:39And then the next morning, my neighbor upstairs texted me.
05:43She's like, girl, I just saw a crazy squirrel just chew through all of your wires.
05:47And I was like, wow, I didn't even have it up for 24 hours.
05:51No lie.
05:52Like it was just like, dang.
05:53So I'm kind of making do with this AC situation and just kind of adding a little bit of an
05:59ambiance
06:00to the backyard.
06:03Overall, how I feel about being here during quarantine is like I feel super comfortable.
06:07I'm actually glad I moved in April, which is like right in the beginning of all the hecticness.
06:13So it was nice to have like a change of scenery because I didn't feel like stuck or like,
06:16ugh, I'm tired of being here.
06:18And then again, having a backyard, just being able to like step out and just,
06:22you know, chill without having to like be outside with everything that's going on in the world.
06:27So when I saw this, I was like, it's mine.
