00:01I think my definition of power is to lift other people up, to bring diverse stories into the narrative and
00:09to give, you know, new opportunities to people where they, you know, they haven't gotten them before.
00:15What it means to be powerful in the music industry is being true to yourself and honest and remaining very
00:22humble through it all.
00:23I think what empowers me today is the fact that there's no limit to what you can do as an
00:28artist.
00:28Us, as women, are realizing that, like, no one else can put a limit onto what we can do with
00:35our music.
00:36And the more we collaborate together and are part of propping each other up, that's how we're going to get
00:41there.
00:42We are really lucky in that we live in a very collaborative time in the music industry.
00:47Surrounding yourself by people who, like, actually care about you and your vision and, you know, bring the best out
00:53of you.
00:54A lot of light is being shined on, like, female empowerment and equality.
00:57So I think it's a really cool time to be a female in the industry and there's, like, a lot
01:03of growth that I think everyone's seeing right now.
01:05More women are in front of the computer producing the tracks and it's, like, so inspiring.
01:10I'm really lucky to be able to work with a team of women and for female artists coming into the
01:15music industry, I think it's really empowering for them to be able to work with people who understand their perspective.
01:22I, as a writer and as an artist, I try to make my music very carefree, very empowering.
01:28I feel like a badass when I'm writing it, so I want people who are at the show or people
01:32who are listening to music in their car to feel like a badass.
01:35The advice that I would give to young women today is stand up for what you believe in.
01:40If you are passionate about something, go all out.
01:44You have to create those opportunities, you have to speak up, don't be afraid to ask a question, what's the
01:50worst that's going to happen, they say no.
01:52Know that it's okay to fail, because it took me a really long time to understand what failure meant, especially
01:59when I started to realize the lessons that I was learning and the way that it shaped me as a
02:05woman and as a human being.
02:06You are beautiful, you are powerful, and you can do anything you set your mind to.
