Transcript
00:00Hey, I'm Rachel and this is My Sweet Digs.
00:02Come on in.
00:04My apartment is about a thousand square feet.
00:07It's a one and a half bed, one bathroom,
00:10and I pay $47.50 a month for it.
00:12I think the price is totally worth it
00:14because this building has so many amenities.
00:16There's a doorman, there's a pool, steam room, gym,
00:19and you have this view, which is incredible.
00:22You definitely get a lot for what you're paying for.
00:24This is my front alcove when you first walk into my apartment.
00:27It's nice to have this extra space.
00:29There's also this dip in the wall,
00:30and I was thinking it'd be perfect for my wardrobe and my shoes.
00:33So I made this custom Ikea wardrobe piece,
00:36which really helps me with my everyday.
00:39And then I have the mirror right here
00:41right before I go out the door in the morning.
00:43Now we're going to the kitchen.
00:46Well, my kitchen, I really like about it,
00:47how it's super clean and it's very big.
00:50It's the perfect size.
00:51I'm a very social person.
00:53I always have friends around,
00:54always hanging out with people,
00:55and this is honestly the perfect place to have people over.
00:58So I set up like all the doors like right here,
01:00and wine, cheese, all of that.
01:03My bar cart is right there.
01:04I realized when you guys came here,
01:06I didn't restock it with wine,
01:07but it's just a cute little bar cart over here
01:09that has all of my wines on it,
01:11and some licors for entertaining.
01:13My secret to keeping my apartment tidy is
01:15trying to minimize clutter,
01:16which it's hard for me, but I managed to do it.
01:19And always clean up after yourself,
01:21because if you don't clean up after yourself,
01:22it's still going to be there,
01:23and it's going to be even more messy,
01:24so you might as well just clean up after yourself.
01:26My apartment pet peeves,
01:28number one,
01:28everyone that knows me,
01:30that knows me well,
01:31knows this is my biggest thing.
01:32Cabinets open.
01:33Don't leave any cabinets open.
01:34What's the point of that?
01:35There isn't a point.
01:35My friends come over,
01:37and they leave the cabinets open purposely,
01:39and I'm just like,
01:40you're just really trying to piss me off right now,
01:42aren't you?
01:42There's a spatula in my kitchen.
01:44So I was walking with my girlfriend down the street,
01:46and we were talking about like,
01:47deep conversations of life,
01:48how quickly it goes,
01:49and things can happen like this.
01:52Out of nowhere,
01:53this spatula flies out of nowhere,
01:55and skims me right on the nose,
01:58straight in front of me,
01:59and it came down really hard,
02:00it landed on our feet.
02:01And we were just like,
02:02did that just happen?
02:03Did someone just throw a spatula at us?
02:04We have no idea where it came from.
02:06So it was just one of those weird freak things
02:07that like, you know what,
02:08I'm going to bring this home,
02:09put it in my kitchen,
02:10and I put the date in the back of it.
02:11So that kind of stuff is like,
02:12how I collect things.
02:14And then this is my living room.
02:16I love most about this space,
02:17is my couch,
02:19and where I'm sitting literally right now.
02:20I can see the Freedom Tower,
02:21and the water,
02:22and all the fairies coming up.
02:23So this is really,
02:23kind of like the sweet spot
02:25where I'm sitting right now.
02:26My home style.
02:28Eclectic.
02:29Sort of vintage.
02:32I guess a little feminine.
02:33A little strange.
02:35Corky.
02:35Corky is the word.
02:36Corky.
02:37I think the importance of having plants
02:39in your apartment,
02:40especially living in New York City,
02:41you don't see much green,
02:42like ever,
02:43because it's concrete jungle.
02:44So I like bringing life into here,
02:46and having things that are growing,
02:47and I just feel like it gives it more
02:49of a homey vibe to it.
02:50And I'm just,
02:51I'm just a plant lover.
02:53I am an actress and model
02:54for full time for living.
02:56I think for sure it's influenced
02:57the way I live in my home.
02:58I've always been around
02:59really amazing people,
03:00really cool things,
03:01and I kind of just brought this
03:03into my home,
03:04and made it kind of mine.
03:05I'm in the creative business.
03:06It just brings up
03:07the whole new vibe into here as well.
03:09Another like hobby I actually have
03:10is antiquing.
03:11I just get random things,
03:12and I'm like,
03:12oh, this will look good.
03:13And I was at this thrift shop,
03:15and these gold spoons are insane.
03:18Every letter in the alphabet,
03:19it could have been any letter.
03:20R.
03:20It was like my initial on them.
03:22Obviously,
03:22how do you have these?
03:24These are made for me.
03:25So yeah,
03:25that was kind of a really amazing find.
03:26I got super excited.
03:27This apartment is a huge step up.
03:29A,
03:29because no one's lived in this unit.
03:31My first apartment that I moved into,
03:33it was a walk up,
03:34and I was living in like,
03:35it wasn't like the best place.
03:36But one day I woke up with a cockroach,
03:38that cockroached my bed.
03:38I was like,
03:39maybe it's time to move now.
03:41And then my second apartment,
03:43I'm like,
03:43what is that?
03:44I'm like,
03:45what is that noise?
03:46I heard this like chirping noise
03:48behind the oven.
03:49There was a dead mice behind my oven.
03:50I'm like,
03:51oh my God,
03:51there's beans.
03:52There's one.
03:53There's a bunch.
03:53I found a hole in the bottom of my wall.
03:55The mice chewed through.
03:56I'm not kidding.
03:57The hole in the wall was like this big.
03:59So I've had some horror stories
04:00at each of one of my apartments.
04:02None here.
04:02So I think this is the winner for sure.
04:05And then this way is my bedroom.
04:07Honestly,
04:08I didn't really have a vibe going for this room.
04:10I just wanted to be really clean
04:11and kind of crisp,
04:13just simple.
04:13No clutter.
04:14I actually collect a lot of perfumes.
04:16And sunglasses.
04:18And jewelry.
04:20Basically everything.
04:25These are really ugly lamps next to my bed.
04:27These are like scarves.
04:29I wear them sometimes when I have a look on.
04:31And I was like,
04:31maybe these look cute over here.
04:32So I just threw them on top of there
04:33and it gives it like a total different vibe.
04:35Especially at night.
04:36It's like,
04:36gives off like homey,
04:38relaxed tint.
04:39New York,
04:39it's really cold obviously in the wintertime.
04:40So you'll see,
04:41I have a ton of sweatshirts and sweaters in my closet,
04:44but I have them all stacked up above.
04:46You know,
04:46like very orderly fashion.
04:47So you can see everything when I'm about to take it out.
04:49I just know exactly where everything is.
04:51Dresses on the left with everything long,
04:52going down as shirts and other things.
04:55A lot of storage in this apartment,
04:56which is amazing.
04:56I've been living in New York now for like eight years.
04:58So I've collected a lot of things.
05:00Storage is like massive.
05:01I have,
05:02especially with industry men,
05:03I have a lot of clothes.
05:04And then here's my bathroom where I spend,
05:06also a lot of my time where I get ready in the morning.
05:08I don't really dislike anything in my bathroom.
05:10It's really well lit.
05:11And there's,
05:12there's three massive mirrors in there.
05:14You pull them open and all my beauty products are in there.
05:17Beauty must haves that I have in my bathroom.
05:19Spritz,
05:19face spritz.
05:20So like throughout the day to refresh your face.
05:22Rose hip oil.
05:23I know this is super random,
05:24but this oil I put on probably like every night and it just,
05:26I wake up the next morning feeling so glowing and fresh.
05:29Um,
05:30a really good eye cream,
05:31some retinol and always a moisturizer.
05:33I think right when I walked in this apartment,
05:35I knew this is like the one,
05:36as they say,
05:37the one.
05:37My next dream apartment,
05:39even though I love this one,
05:40would probably be exposed brick in like a lofty kind of vibe.
05:44So my bed's up above and then kitchen and everything down below.
05:48So I walk up some stairs,
05:49but exposed brick probably would be my next one.
05:53I like the one that's just for my back,
05:53to actually say that.
06:01It's like we should have a new one.
06:01I'll take a break.
06:01And if you see you later.
06:01We'll see you later.
06:02I'll see you later.
06:03I'm leaving.
