00:00Hey, I'm Adam. I'm Jack. And I'm Ryan. And we are AJR. Hi, I'm Jay Budd. Hey, it's Bristies. Hey,
00:05this is Griffin. Kaelin Russo. Hey, this is Madian. I'm at the City Refinery 29 studio at Lollapalooza.
00:14My music is directly about the stories that I've gone through as a woman in the industry, and I'm ready
00:20to tell that story. I'm a woman. I'm a music producer. I do face things that a man would not.
00:25A lot of female writers that we've worked with have always talked about trying to fight for their fair share
00:29of a song and getting compensated properly.
00:32I feel like I have such high goals, and I feel like I'm going to be achieving them all regardless
00:36of gender.
00:37We do better work by having people that come from different backgrounds.
00:40Why having more women in the room matters is because otherwise you're missing a very valuable set of experiences of
00:46literally half the world.
00:47I'm always looking out to have more females in my crew and in my band and seeing what I can
00:52do in that respect because I think it's important that we all have a voice.
00:55Putting women in a position to showcase their talent and ability.
00:59I don't think this is a competition. It's a community. We're here for art.
01:02I work to get enough skills and tools underneath my belt so no matter what room I walk into, they
01:07can't ignore me.
01:08Just because something's always been done a certain way is not a good reason to keep doing it that way.
01:12We don't know all of the amazing art we're missing. You want to hear from as many perspectives as possible
01:16and all the best art comes from different groups of people.
01:20Always important to me to work with other women in the game and that's like super important for us to
01:25boost each other up.
01:26And finally, women getting the respect that they deserve.
01:29As artists, like that's our job to be vocal about it and express that this is a problem that needs
01:34to be fixed.
01:35So on our tour upcoming, we actually have a bunch of female openers to kind of elevate them up to
01:40the kind of representation that men are getting.
01:41I feel like more and more women are coming together and I feel like we're all lifting each other up
01:45right now and it's a really awesome dynamic that's happening.
01:47As that representation happens, it's going to like inspire a new generation and hopefully very quickly the floodgate will open.
01:52Well, I mean with women, it's like possibilities are limitless.
01:55Find women that are like you. Find women that are like-minded. Reach out. Work together. Support each other and
02:00you'll make it.
