00:00Here are both coaches with Matt LaFleur starting things off, dispelling any assumptions that Bryce Young is in a tough
00:05matchup tonight.
00:08I would expect them fully to rebound and play much, much better.
00:14I think a lot of it was, you know, just the turnover battle.
00:17I think any time you turn the ball over that much, no matter who you are, you kind of put
00:22yourself behind the eight ball a little bit.
00:24And that's what happened. And then it can pile up fast on you.
00:27And so I'm sure we have we have a very motivated team coming in here and certainly one that we
00:33know is dangerous.
00:35Shoot, they came in here last year and beat us. So, you know, but I think we're we're motivated as
00:40well.
00:40And we've got to bounce back. Championship opportunity, a historic place going back to Lambeau Field and an incredible opponent.
00:48You know, a Packers team that's explosive on the offensive side, leading the NFL in turnovers.
00:53A really good, really good opportunity for us to get back to our football and to really focus on the
00:58things that matter.
01:01All right. So the last time these two teams played was back in twenty twenty five and the Carolina Panthers
01:06won 1613 at Green Bay.
01:08Lambeau has not been some prolific home stadium for the Packers.
01:12They've struggled away and at home and here they are back in Green Bay.
01:15So what are you looking for from this game on a Thursday night?
01:18Ah, can I say I'm looking for a Green Bay loss? Am I allowed to say that?
01:23You can. You can. You're like, you're smirk. You're so happy.
01:27I am. Well, look, I love a Thursday night game. These teams need wins, right?
01:32They're coming off losses. They need wins. You know, you mentioned it there in the copy.
01:35You said Packers, that North is crazy, man.
01:38Yes. That NFC North is wild.
01:40On the Packers side, I was watching a couple weeks back, right? Bears Packers.
01:45Yeah. Big game. Yeah. Right. Chicago fan. I'm going, we got to get this win.
01:49We got to get that. We got to stop Jordan Love. They're not running the ball.
01:52We got this. And then Jordan Love, at some point in the game, started saying,
01:58you know what? I'm just going to throw this ball deep.
02:02Yes. And I'm just going to throw the ball deep every single play over 20 yards in the air.
02:08So I'm looking to see, is he going to continue that tonight on Thursday?
02:13And if so, I mean, they can put up a lot of points in Green Bay at home.
02:19It's something remarkable to see. He's got two incredibly talented receivers there.
02:23You know, we mentioned, you know, Raph mentioned Golden is questionable,
02:26but probably going to play. Yeah.
02:27Watson's just an animal. So that's what I'm looking forward to seeing, Manti.
02:30I don't know about you, but man, Chuck, that ball down the field is terrifying.
02:36Terrifying. Well, I hate Carolina Panthers fan.
02:38You know, I love you. And I know that you're a huge Bears fan.
02:41I know you just said it would be nice as a Bears fan to see the Packers kind of fall
02:45short a little bit.
02:46I hate to tell you this, but it might get spicy if you go against the Packers now.
02:51Now that they have Josh Jacobs back,
02:53the reason why they're throwing the ball down the field is they had no run game.
02:55Zero. They're the worst run game in the National Football League.
02:58So what they did, what Coach LaFleur said, was like, you know what?
03:01We know we don't have a run game. We know we don't have a mid game in the Packers.
03:03We're just going to throw this thing deep.
03:05Like he averages over 10 yards of air passing yards a play.
03:08That's the highest in the NFL.
03:11Now that safety has had to back up, right?
03:13Not only do you have one wide receiver, Watkins, but you also have Matthew Golden.
03:17Both of them have to be back.
03:18Now that you have Josh Jacobs, now that you have a threat at a run game,
03:22now this is where this cat and mouse game starts.
03:24Now this is where football gets beautiful.
03:26If I am a defense, if I'm the Carolina Panthers, do I move those safeties closer?
03:31Do I put one back?
03:32If you do, now it's going to be favor for the Packers and Jordan Love.
03:36So I know Jordan Love the past three weeks has been phenomenal.
03:40I think it's going to get even better.
03:42And we talked about this division, the NFC North, as the most successful.
03:46They all have winning records right now.
03:49The Packers sit at fourth.
03:50I don't think they're going to be sitting at fourth much longer
03:53because not only do you have Josh Jacobs coming back, he came back last week,
03:57but Michael Parsons is about to return to that defense.
04:01And the defense is getting a lot of turnovers.
04:03That passing, it's great.
04:05They're a great fit for what that division is.
04:07They score a lot of points and they play a lot of good football.
04:10But having a threat in the run game is going to help Jordan Love out so much offensively
04:15that I'm sorry, Seth.
04:16Well, it's going to be nice.
04:17Let me ask you this.
04:18Let me ask you this.
04:19Let me play devil's advocate because I think Josh Jacobs is fantastic.
04:22When he's on, so he comes back last week.
04:25And was it just the rust of being off for weeks?
04:29Because he didn't look great.
04:30And the Packers run game wasn't like it didn't just flip a switch
04:33and they were awesome last week.
04:34They struggled in that game against Detroit still.
04:36So do you think it's just a matter of him getting reps,
04:39getting time on the practice field, getting in shape,
04:41and then them getting used to his style?
04:43Yeah.
04:43I mean, imagine he didn't do training camp.
04:45You know, he couldn't be around the facility.
04:47So that's all on you, right?
04:49There's in shape and then there's game shape.
04:52And I don't even know if he's in shape yet, right?
04:54So it's going to take some time.
04:56And I don't think that anybody expected him to be the 2025, 2024 Josh Jacobs.
05:01And right now, the way that Jordan Love is playing with that passing game,
05:04I don't even think they need him to be that right now.
05:06He just needs to be that threat, right?
05:08He needs to be that decoy that you put out there like,
05:10bring those safeties down if you want to.
05:12I'm going to hurt you over the top.
05:13Now you have the ability for Jordan Love to say,
05:17I can beat you 20 yards deep or I can hand this ball off
05:21and then this guy can hurt you for at least four rushing yards.
05:24And so that's where football, in my opinion, gets very, very beautiful offensively
05:29because defensively I either got to beat you with my front seven
05:32and my front seven alone or I got to bring somebody in a box
05:35and you don't want to do that against Jordan Love, Matthew Golden,
05:37and Christian Watkins right now.
05:38Yeah.
05:38Over those two seasons for the Packers running back, he had 28 rushing tees
05:42and now they look to bolster the run game, of course, for the Packers.
05:45If you're with the Carolina Panthers and you're looking on that side of things,
05:49Bryce Young had a challenging week last week.
05:52However, the Panthers, as I mentioned, still maintain
05:54and they're gripping onto this thing with their little cat claws
05:57with a half game lead over the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC South.
06:02So are you looking at Bryce Young to repeat what he did last week,
06:07which is a challenged performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
06:10or we really saw a more positive Bryce Young in the first six weeks of the season
06:15before last week?
06:16So, Manti, which version of Bryce Young are we going to get tonight?
06:19Well, the Panthers to me was the NFC version of the Chiefs, right?
06:22The Chiefs went against Seattle Seahawks.
06:24They were hot.
06:25All the talk was about that offense, Kenneth Walker,
06:27and then they ran into the Seattle Seahawks defense
06:29and they didn't see the red zone.
06:31The same thing could be said for the Carolina Panthers.
06:34Going into last week, they're averaging 28 points,
06:36around 28 points per game, 300 passing yards,
06:39and over 100 rushing yards.
06:41Well, then, that was his QBR.
06:43I mean, they had 13 points.
06:45He only threw for 160 pass yards and he was sacked five times.
06:49I think they go back to what they were before.
06:52Now, they did lose a key, key piece in the offensive line
06:56that helped keep Bryce Young up on his feet.
06:59But we know about Chuba Hubbard.
07:01You know about Ted Tidoro and McMillan.
07:02I think the catalyst to this whole offense is a man named Jalen Coker.
07:07Now, Jalen Coker has been on and off the football field,
07:09but when Jalen Coker is in the slot and that boy is cooking,
07:13I mean, week one, that guy went off.
07:16So, if Jalen Coker is in the game,
07:19now it gives Bryce Young not only Ted Tidoro on one side,
07:22but then you have this big old maniac on the other,
07:25and now he's able to distribute that ball a lot easier.
07:30So, I do like what the Green Bay Packers have done defensively.
07:33I think with Bryce Young, Jalen Coker, and Ted Tidoro,
07:36that is an offensive outfit that gives a lot of defenses nightmares.
07:39I guess when you're thinking about the Panthers,
07:41you're wondering, is it a blip last week or is it going to be a slump?
07:50What version are we going to get?
07:51Because that offense has looked extremely dynamic through the first six weeks of the season.
07:56And then last week against the Tampa Bay team,
07:58look, Tampa Bay hadn't been lighting the world on fire.
08:00I know they got their guy, Baker, back.
08:02But even when Baker was healthy in the early parts of the season,
08:04Tampa Bay wasn't like this dominant threat on offense or defense.
08:08You know, I think we came into the season thinking Tampa Bay was going to be something special possibly,
08:13but they weren't.
08:14They were underperforming.
08:15So, then you come to last week, you go, okay,
08:18Panthers have been lightened up every single week.
08:19Like, offense, churning.
08:21Bryce Young looks like the guy that was drafted number one overall.
08:23Like, Tets doing Tet things, right?
08:25Like, this is going to be a squad that's going to run away with the South, right?
08:30And then they just get walloped.
08:32They just get, like, mollywhopped.
08:34I mean, just smack.
08:35I mean, I was checking back on the score looking at it.
08:38You're like, this can't be.
08:38This is not.
08:39When are they going to?
08:39Come on.
08:40Let's go.
08:40Okay, okay.
08:41They come out of halftime.
08:42Let's go.
08:42Let's start putting some points up.
08:43Nope.
08:43And it just looked like, I mean, it was one of those where I'm like, ooh, ooh.
08:49I started to feel bad.
08:50I started to feel bad for the Panthers.
08:52I'm like, I kind of like this squad.
08:53They're looking good this year.
08:54And then they run into this.
08:55So, the question is, blip or slump for me?
08:59And I'm saying, this is a good team.
09:01They're not going to lay another egg like that.
09:03I feel confident.
09:04So, that's what I'm looking for.
09:05I'm looking for them to rebound as a team, as a squad.
09:09Somebody in that locker room, whether it's offense, defense, coaching,
09:12somebody's got to step up and say, no, no, no.
09:14That is not the identity of this football team.
09:17We are not going to come out looking like that.
09:19We were embarrassed last week.
09:20We're going to put that on the shelf.
09:21We're coming in on a short week.
09:22And we're going to dominate on the offensive side of the ball like we know how to do.
09:25I want to follow up on something you said, Kobe, about the Bucs.
09:28Because it kind of gives a little context as to the Panthers.
09:31The Bucs did have a rough start, right?
09:32But then defensively, defensively, I can't speak for the offense.
09:36I know Jalen Daniels was there.
09:38Defensively, I mean, when they played the Cowboys,
09:40them boys against Dak Prescott was making turnovers.
09:44And against the Steelers the very next week,
09:45I don't think that Aaron Rodgers saw the end zone until like the fourth quarter.
09:49That's fair.
09:50Going into this game, I think you look at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
09:53it's like, ah, sleepy.
09:54But then you don't really consider the defense
09:57and what Todd Bowes had been doing for the past two weeks.
09:59So I think the Carolina Panthers ran into a defense that has been giving their confidence back a little bit
10:04and may have overlooked the Bucs' defense a little bit.
10:07And then they got punched in the mouth.
10:09So this, to your point, is going to be one of those games where blip, rut, whatever you want to
10:14call it,
10:15this is going to be a statement game for Coach Canales and Bryce Young and their offense to see,
10:20hey, are we in a groove or are we in a rut?
10:22And they're going to be able to make that decision today.
10:24Look out for the ball popping up in the air tonight as well.
10:27The Panthers have seven takeaways so far this season.
10:29Five of them came against the Falcons in a single game.
10:32They haven't had a takeaway in the last three.
10:34Their secondary is decimated with injuries at this point, whereas the Packers have 13 takeaways.
10:39So look out.
10:40Ball's live.
10:41Jump on it.
10:42And we might become a little turnover party in Green Bay.
10:44Coming up on our show, Derek Henry may not be the only guy running the ball this weekend
10:48with the potential return of Lamar Jackson.
10:50Can the Bills stop this backfield duo, Manti?
10:53That's why we play the game to find out.
10:55That's a challenge for the Bills if Lamar is back as well.
10:57All right, Jamie.
10:58We try to do this.
