00:00I'm a rapper. I'm a singer. I'm a writer. I'm a performer. I'm a performing artist. Musician. I'm Lizzo.
00:12I was born in Detroit. I grew up in Houston and I started my solo career in Minneapolis.
00:19My whole journey has been about getting better. I'm living my purpose.
00:23I believe that my music and my existence is meant to activate people for change.
00:30I am a feminist. I identify with feminism. My heritage, my ethnicity, my femininity, my blackness.
00:39I don't think there's a definition of what a feminist looks like. That's not a scary word.
00:44I tour with all women and we're all very independent and fierce.
00:49When we're on stage, we just do what we feel by representing all different types of women and body sizes.
00:56From my DJ to the dancers, to the creative direction, to the production and tour management, to myself.
01:02We just are living in feminism and living in women taking action instead of preaching it or trying to be
01:10it.
01:10I gotta lead by example, you know.
01:15I'm using my talents to bring awareness to the type of women and the type of voices and the type
01:20of people that have been unseen and been unheard.
01:23I don't think that I am just representing fat black girls.
01:28By being a fat black girl, I'm representing all the quote-unquote others and all the marginalized people.
01:35All types of people come to the shows.
01:37We all find a common thread in being a part of a group that's just not seen in mainstream media.
01:43So I think it's refreshing for anyone to see somebody that represents the weirdos out there doing it big, loud
01:52and brassy and wacky.
01:55I want to be a big bird, a big, big golden bird.
01:59So, you know, this is my big bird look.
02:02And we never wear pants because I have good legs, great legs, and I want to show them off all
02:07the time.
02:08There was a time in my life where I couldn't leave the house without mascara or a face or a
02:14brow.
02:15Even if I am wearing a sack of potatoes and don't have makeup on and my friends are with me,
02:20we could be at the king of Egypt's house and I'll still feel like a bad chick.
