00:08Hi everyone this is Taylor from Refinery29. In celebration for the much
00:11anticipated new season of Mad Men, we'll be recreating a beauty look from one of
00:15our favorite office sirens, Joan. You may not have all Joan's assets, but that
00:20doesn't mean you can't have her sexy makeup look. To recreate Joan's sultry but
00:24simple makeup look, I'll be using the Julie Hewitt Spring Essentials Makeup
00:28kit available on Refinery29 Reserve. The kit includes an eyeshadow quad of four
00:33neutral colors, a red lipstick, and a creamy cheek color. Using a flat dense
00:38brush, I'll be applying the lightest color Pearl all over my lid from lash line
00:43to brow bone. Make sure you get good coverage with this as it is the basis for
00:47our entire look. I like to pack the color on as I go and not swipe it just to
00:51create more density. Flipping the brush over, I'm going to pick up the second
00:55color from the palette Bellini and apply that for my lash line to just above my
00:59crease. Bellini is a matte neutral warm color, so it's going to give us a good
01:04Joan glow. Looking in your mirror, tilt your head back so that you can still see
01:09your entire lid with your eye open. This is going to give you a better idea of
01:13where to place Bellini. You're going to want to be able to see it when your eyes
01:16are open as well, so don't be afraid to go just over your crease. Then using a fluffy
01:21dense brush, you're going to want to blend the two colors where they meet. Now
01:25we're ready for the liner. Using a stiff flat angled brush, we're going to apply
01:30the darkest color in the palette, Noir, to just above the lash line. This color can
01:34be applied either dry or wet, depending on your preference. Today I'm going to be
01:38using a dry. Packing the color to the end of the brush, we're going to create a
01:42solid line from corner to corner. This is most easily achieved by creating small
01:47dashes and connecting them as you go. You're not going to want to swipe the
01:50color on in one stroke, as you're just going to create a mess and not the
01:54desired look you're going for. Once you've created the look that you're
01:57comfortable with, it's time to move on to the cheeks. To get Joan's Natural Glow,
02:02I'll be using the Julie Hewitt Cheeky Blush Pot in Destiny. This is a creamy, sheer
02:06color that is easy to build. You can apply this with either your brush or your
02:11fingers, depending on your preference. Starting in the center of the cheek, you're
02:15going to want to work the color out for a diffused, natural glow. Feel free to
02:19build this up if you don't get the color you most desire on the first try. And
02:23voila! Once you've created your eye and your cheek color, it's time for the main
02:27event, the lips. Joan is known for her sexy red lipstick, so today we're going to
02:31use the Julie Hewitt Rouge Noir Lipstick. This is a dense, opaque color that goes on
02:36easy and doesn't need a lip liner. So there you have a modern take on a Joan
02:40inspired look. That's guaranteed not to make men mad.
