00:03Today, we're going to show you how to do the sexy chain braid updo.
00:14Hi, I'm Sharon from Refinery29.
00:17And I'm Michael Duenas.
00:18And today, we're going to show you the chain braid updo.
00:20Start by sectioning off the round of your head.
00:22Clip that hair up and out of the way.
00:25Take a horizontal section at the round of your head.
00:27Then, take a vertical section right at your hairline, tie the hair in a knot, and clip it out of
00:32the way.
00:34Take another vertical section right behind it, tie the hair in a knot, and clip it out of the way.
00:39Do the same motion for three sections.
00:47On your fourth section, incorporate the hair from the very first section into your knot.
00:53Make sure you bring the hair from the first section underneath the hair from your next section.
01:05Once you have finished your braid halfway around your head, secure with an elastic as close to the base as
01:09possible.
01:13Section the top of your hair up and out of the way and secure with a clip.
01:17Take your remaining hair plus your braid and bring it back into a low height ponytail.
01:24Once in a ponytail, twist the hair into a tight chignon.
01:32Release the hair from your top section.
01:34Then, proceed to backcomb in small sections to build up volume.
01:38Focus your backcombing on the root area.
01:41Once backcombed and you have some volume built in, bring the hair back into the side and pin near your
01:46chignon.
01:47Leaving your braid exposed on the side.
01:50Wrap the remaining hair around the base of your chignon and pin it.
01:54Once you finish pinning, spray your hair with a flexible hold hairspray.
01:58This will help ensure the flyaways stay down and the shape of your braid stays all day long.
02:04This is an easy twist on a typical braided updo that's great for any holiday occasion.
