A political storm has erupted within the Congress Party over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and allegations of vote tampering. While senior leadership including Rahul Gandhi has intensified attacks against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, calling for protest marches and planning a symbolic representative impeachment session at Mallikarjun Kharge's residence, Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiholi publicly defended the electoral revision. Jarkiholi stated that the roll revision was conducted properly in Karnataka, attributing deletions to deaths, relocations, and duplicate entries, and urged other states to adopt the same process. Reports highlighted that Congress leaders in Kerala, including Ramesh Chennithala, previously noted that the voter roll clean-up helped the party by removing bogus entries. The Bharatiya Janata Party hit back at the opposition, with leaders accusing the India Bloc of spreading anarchy and questioning the credibility of their claims after winning elections in several states. The contrasting stances within the opposition have escalated debate over its campaign against the Election Commission.

00:00Senior Congress Leader and Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiyoli has taken the wind out of the Congress Party's sails on attacking
00:07the special intensive revision of the electoral rolls.
00:10The Congress calls it vote-jury. Satish Jarkiyoli says we don't protest about the SIR in Karnataka.
00:17SIR has been done properly in Karnataka.
00:19On his own party colleagues attacking the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Election Commission over deletion of close
00:26to one crore names,
00:27Satish Jarkiyoli says people have died, people have shifted or there were duplications.
00:34This is exactly what the EC has been saying all along on deletion of voter list and its purification.
00:41Now, the statement perhaps couldn't have come at a worse time for the Congress Party that's planning a mock parliament
00:48and a mock impeachment of the CEC Gyanesh Kumar
00:52at the residence of Congress Party President Malik Arjun Karge who incidentally comes from Karnataka.
00:57So, Karge's own party leader and minister from his state Karnataka has emphatically defended the special intensive revision or SIR
01:06in the state saying SIR was conducted properly.
01:09He, in fact, wants other states to follow the same process.
01:14Rahul Gandhi's entire vote-jury narrative incidentally had started from Karnataka.
01:19But has Jarkiyoli punctured his balloon?
01:24On the electoral exercise, two very different narratives from the same political party and the same state.
01:31Jarkiyoli is not only Congress leader in Karnataka from Karnataka, he's also a minister.
01:38And Karnataka is not the only state.
01:40Even in Kerala, the Congress has said the special intensive revision of the electoral rolls benefited the Congress Party, helping
01:47them win elections.
01:48But let's for a moment talk about what's been said about Karnataka.
01:53The Karnataka numbers are significant.
01:56Nearly 1.08 crore voters were not enumerated in Karnataka's draft electoral rolls.
02:04Of these, 65.45 lakh were marked permanently shifted, 19 lakh absent, 16.39 lakh deceased and about 7.09
02:18lakh either duplicate or enrolled elsewhere.
02:23Following notices and hearings, 61,867 electors were declared ineligible for inclusion in the final roll.
02:33A separate category from those not enumerated in the draft.
02:40Let's now talk about Kerala, where the Congress not only won elections, it formed the government.
02:45And Ramesh Chanitala said SIR helped the Congress Party in Kerala by removing alleged bogus votes linked, he said, to
02:55the CPIM.
02:56Senior Congress leader and former minister Shashi Tharoor acknowledged the need to address, duplicate, deceased and unregistered voters.
03:07And that's not all.
03:08So, you had other leaders who said, SIR removed fake voters and helped Congress in several constituencies.
03:16And yet, Rahul Gandhi alleges vote chori and is demanding action against the Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar.
03:23Rahul Gandhi, in fact, in a video, urged people across the country to join the Chalo Dilli protest march,
03:29telling them not to fear police or lathees and calling for a march to defend the Constitution and the soul
03:37of the government.
03:39Oh, words to that effect.
03:40The India Bloc leaders will now meet at Congress Party President Malikarjun Kharge's residence
03:44for a symbolic public impeachment of the CEC.
03:49A mock parliament and a mock impeachment.
03:52India Bloc is preparing to present its allegations and complaints in this mock parliament session.
03:58But the BJP has hit back.
04:00They've questioned the opposition's credibility and they've defended the Election Commission.
04:05In fact, BJP President Nithin Nabeen, he said democracy is in safe hands under Prime Minister Narendra Modi
04:10and insists that the BJP will continue to work in national interest.
04:14Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, he's accused the opposition of trying to spread anarchy,
04:19calling for what he describes is an end to this anarchist mindset.
04:25J.P. Nadda also questioned the vote chori charge itself,
04:29asking how can the opposition allege vote chori when it wins elections in several states.
04:36So as the Congress escalates its battle against the Election Commission
04:40and the Chief Election Commissioner,
04:42questions over its own contrasting positions and SIR are now growing louder.
04:48If the electoral roll clean-up is welcome in Karnataka
04:51and has been beneficial in Kerala,
04:54what explains the fierce opposition only when the Congress Party loses elections?
05:00We will debate that.
05:01But first, let's listen in to different voices on this very complex issue.
05:36In most of the Congress
05:38Well, they know the truth and the SIR has helped.
05:42Even in Kerala, Chenitaal was Congress leader, state leader.
05:47He was the president once.
05:49He was a senior leader of the Congress.
05:50He also expressed, because of the SIR, we came to power in the Kerala.
05:57Congress party leader has told.
05:59In so many, even Jammu Kashmir CM, Omar Abdullah, he is also telling,
06:04because of the SIR, I came into power in the Jammu and Kashmir.
06:08So, internally, all the people, Congress people, they will like SIR here in Karnataka.
06:15That's a very clear indication that this is a conspiracy theory that has its roots all over the place.
06:22And it's centralized.
06:24And we will get to the bottom of it.
06:26So, I have information on what has happened.
06:29In Vijaypur, more than 40-50 people who have declared dead and Form 7 were submitted,
06:37that they have gone and complained to the DC over there, saying that we are not dead, we are alive.
06:43So, all these things have happened.
06:44So, I am not sure what information Mr. Zarkioli has, but I am basing my statements on things that have
06:53happened in Kalburgi and elsewhere.
06:55There is one protest there, the nation's protest.
06:58Don't worry about the police.
07:01Don't worry about the lathees.
07:03The BJP will not have the guts to try any of their antics.
07:08Come march with us, we will walk together to protect the constitution, to protect the
07:15Indian nation.
07:25I urge all student groups, regardless of your political affiliation, if you feel that
07:33India is under attack, if you feel you are under attack, your expression, your ideas,
07:39your way of thinking is under attack, come and join us, it will be a fantastic march
07:45and it's a march for the soul of this country.
07:48Looking forward to seeing all of you there.
07:50How do you see this public impeachment that's going to happen?
07:54What is the schedule?
07:55What have you all discussed and is there going to be a skit or a mock parliament or is it
08:00going to be a more sombre atmosphere there?
08:03It won't be a mock parliament.
08:05We are not going to replicate parliament as such.
08:08Nevertheless, there will be certain elements or verticals of a parliamentary proceedings.
08:13We would have a presiding officer of imbuckal integrity and the students.
08:18We would have the leader of the opposition, Daji Sava, moving the notice of impeachment.
08:23And we will have party representatives speaking there also.
08:27At the end of the discourse, we will have an voting also to ensure that the impeachment
08:32motion is passed.
08:33So it's not a mock impeachment as such, it's a representative impeachment.
08:39Since Daji Sava chairman and Daji Sava speaker didn't entertain our notice which was proper,
08:44signed by the stipulated numbers which have been there in the constitution, we have no other
08:50way but to hold this representative impeachment and we also thought that to give slot or windows
08:57to civil society and the victims of the SIR, they also will present the case.
09:02They will also.
09:02So will they also, they will also present the case.
09:05They will also present the case.
09:05And will there be some former judges or legal luminaries we are told who would also be present?
09:10You know, civil society, we have not decided as such, I mean, who would come, if at all.
09:15People with legal blend or legal background, they can also be part of it.
09:20We are finalizing it.
09:21But these are the condors of the program that has been chartered out.
09:25Thank you very much, Mr. Vitaas.
09:26Thank you very much, Mr. Vitaas.
