Could Jayson Tatum be on his way to an MVP award??
Who will replace Jaylen Brown's production? George? Pritchard? DWhite? Where do the Boston Celtics sit in the power ranks right now? East contenders?
What's the latest on the BEEF/'lamb chops and gravy'?

00:00I listened to that John Madden trailer of it, so it is Nicolas Cage playing John Madden,
00:05but actually sounding like Jimmy Stewart playing George Bailey in It's a Wonderful Life.
00:09I think he sounds like It's a Wonderful Life.
00:12Yeah, go back and kind of listen to Tazi.
00:14It's a little bit of a wonderful life, Jimmy Stewart sounding.
00:17But, you know, the first little power rankings came out in the NBA and the Celtics,
00:23sitting there at number eight, down a couple spots from six where they were.
00:27When you look at the NBA season, I know it's still early and kind of where they stack up
00:32against some of these teams in the NBA.
00:35I like where they are.
00:36I like what they've been able to do.
00:38I like the way Jason Tatum is playing.
00:40I feel confident about this team now when we talk about regular season.
00:43I was a little bit unsure of kind of maybe where they were going to be,
00:48but I think the biggest thing for me with this Celtics team,
00:51why I feel really good about them, you know, potentially finishing, you know,
00:55not just top five, but maybe as a top three team in the Eastern Conference,
00:59is because of the way everybody is kind of really playing into their roles.
01:04You know, everybody's kind of understanding their roles.
01:06And night in and night out, it's always, you know,
01:10who's going to be the next guy other than Jason Tatum?
01:13And that's kind of been a revolving door as of right now.
01:16And I don't mind that because they kind of know where they are.
01:19Like, you know, the other night it was Pete Pritch,
01:22and then, you know, Paul George has kind of been a steady hand.
01:25And so I'd like to see, you know, continue Pete Pritch
01:27when he comes off the bench doing some great things.
01:30But you're going to have nights where you're going to have guys like Sam Houser
01:33who are going to hit some big shots for you.
01:35Hugo had a little bit of – had some action for you.
01:39So I really like the way this team is playing,
01:40especially with the fact that it's kind of like everybody knows,
01:44hey, Jason's the guy and we're going to kind of play off him
01:48and we're going to play into our roles,
01:49which I think is going to really help this basketball team this year
01:53and put Tatum in a position where if he continues to, you know,
01:57score north of 28, 29, even 30,
02:00have him be right in the conversation of legitimately, you know, MVP this season.
02:04Well, yeah, that's what you got Tuesday night at least in the overtime win.
02:07I mean, he was the hero with the buzzer beater.
02:10But you've got great, great games from your depth guys.
02:15So, yes.
02:16You know, the only thing I – as I'm watching the game,
02:19the only thing that I said to myself,
02:21they have no offense from their center position.
02:25Like, Luka Gaza is a guy who's going to come in, play a few minutes, you know.
02:29He might knock down a couple of threes for you,
02:32but he's giving you nothing at the rim.
02:34Kater and Mitchell Robinson, they're like those pick and lob guys.
02:37And that's the only thing – they give you some good stuff on the defensive end
02:41of the court, but on the offensive end of the court,
02:44they're really not going to stretch the floor out as big.
02:47They're going to be more pick and lob guys.
02:50Okay.
02:51All right, Wiggy, thank you very much.
02:52You got it.
02:53Well, Greg, we talked a lot this morning already about the Jason Tatum,
02:57Jalen Brown, Celtics media beef going on here.
03:00Well, Charles Barkley decided to weigh in,
03:02and he's got some strong words for Tatum and Brown.
03:06We can hear from Sir Charles.
03:08I think both of them are really good players, and both of them are good dudes.
03:12You can't feed this machine, man, because every time you say something,
03:16the media, the internet, they're going to take it to a whole other level.
03:21Okay, they won a championship together.
03:23I think they're both good dudes, and they're both hell of a players.
03:27Just shut the hell up and play basketball.
03:29It's over.
03:29Like, and I think Jason tried to, like, hey, man, I got no beef with JB.
03:35And JB's like, well, no beef.
03:37It's like some chicken and some gravy.
03:39I'm like, yo, man, what do we eat?
03:41What do we eat?
03:43It's like, y'all both are grown-ass men.
03:47Y'all both great basketball players.
03:49The relationship is over.
03:51Come on.
03:52That kind of stuff always bothers me.
03:54I'm not going to lie, y'all.
03:55Come on, man.
03:57Coming from Sir Charles.
03:58Yes.
03:59The one who had beef with everybody when he played.
04:02Well, no, he didn't have, it wasn't the same.
04:05I mean, give me an example.
04:08What do you mean?
04:09You just said he had beef with everybody when he played.
04:12Give me an example.
04:13Well, I think I'm not 100% sure.
04:15I can't remember if it was maybe him and Moses or him and Dr. J.
04:20And not like it was crazy, crazy or anything like that.
04:23I'm just saying, like, Charles going to that, I get it.
04:27But he knows that's the world of basketball.
04:29Like, I mean, he understands it.
04:30He's seen Shaq and Kobe.
04:31He obviously talks about Pippen and Jordan and the relationship that they had together.
04:37Like, I mean, that's just the name.
04:39His whole career is founded upon feuds that he talks about in the media.
04:43Yeah.
04:43To act like you don't like it.
04:44Like, I mean, I understand now that Charles is Charles, like, he doesn't rely on it.
04:49But, like, this is what led inside the NBA to become inside the NBA is talking about off-field drama
04:57like Kobe and Shaq.
04:59I mean, you know, and you just see it when you, basketball's the one sport, and we kind of talked
05:04about it,
05:05because you don't generally see two quarterbacks out there sharing raps or, you know,
05:10maybe you get a little bit into it with hockeys and goaltenders.
05:13But if it's, you know, you don't really see it with forwards and defensemen.
05:18Basketball's the one sport where when you have, like, two superstars fighting over whose team it is, you know,
05:25and we built the narrative like, all right, there's always got to be a Batman and a Robin, right?
05:30And that's kind of what the world of basketball has become, and it's always been that way.
05:34And just now you just go, like, all right.
05:36And then when other guys, like, and I brought up yesterday Larry Bird and McHale and Robert Parrish,
05:43but more so McHale than Robert Parrish, don't you think that if McHale wanted to be a little bit more
05:49of like,
05:50oh, I need to be on the same level as Bird because I'm just as good,
05:54or I feel like I'm as good because I'm doing X, Y, and Z on the court,
05:58there'd be issues there, but McHale knew his role.
06:00Every time something happens, I keep thinking it's over, and then it doesn't seem like it's ever going to be
06:05over.
06:05It's not. It will never end.
06:06Maybe it will be decided when the two play each other on November 10th.
06:11Like, maybe. Can we cross our fingers that it's done?
06:13No, because that'll just add to it.
06:15Because whoever gets the better of the two, let's say Tatum goes out there and scores 30, right?
06:22And they lose, it's going to be like, look at Tatum.
06:25I think if Tatum has an unbelievable game and the Celtics win, it might get very quiet.
06:30If they lose and Jalen has a great game and Jason's nowhere to be found, this thing is going to
06:35continue rolling.
06:36I think the only way that we can quiet this down is Jason to go out.
06:39But not on Jason Tatum's part, on Jalen Brown's part.
06:42Like, I don't think, if Jason Tatum is the better player when they play for the first time, then I
06:50don't think he's going to say anything about it.
06:51I think if Jalen Brown is, then he's going to be right on his stream talking about it.
06:55A hundred percent.
06:56I think it's the opposite.
06:57You do.
06:58I think if Jalen dominates, then it's quiet because Tatum's not going to say anything either way.
07:02Whereas if Jalen Brown plays poorly and Tatum wins, then Jalen's going to be agitated and be forced to speak.
07:11Oh, if Jalen goes off, Jalen is going to be running his mouth.
07:14And I agree with you.
07:17Like, my issue right now where we stand today is that Jason Tatum said that he's done speaking about it
07:23and the broadcast keeps bringing it up.
07:24There needs to be a note sent from the Celtics organization saying we are no longer engaging in this and
07:31move on.
07:31Like, that, honestly, that's my biggest problem right now.
07:34I don't understand.
07:34It makes the broadcast compelling.
07:37Like, I think it's interesting.
07:38I don't get that argument.
07:40It makes it sound so small.
07:41I don't think it does.
07:43When did Scal ever talk about the turnover issue for Jalen Brown when he was broadcasting every single game?
07:50It makes Scal sound petty.
07:51Jalen Brown was playing for the team that Scal played for.
07:55So, he says things about players on other teams.
07:59Jalen Brown is now on another team.
08:01I know.
08:01It just makes him sound so petty.
08:03Yeah, and he is.
08:04But he's defending the wall.
08:06100%.
08:06I don't care about that.
08:07To me, it's more like you're proving Jalen's point about the PR.
08:11Curtis said this earlier.
08:12You can't say, I'm done talking about it and then have all of the guys that are constantly speaking in
08:17front of a microphone be talking about it.
08:19Yeah, but it's not Jason.
08:20In your favor.
08:21But it's not Jason Tatum, though.
08:22That is not my.
08:23So, you're not proving Jalen.
08:24I said, from the organization down, it needs to be covered of, okay, we're done talking about it and move
08:30on.
08:30But you said you're proving Jalen's point.
08:32No.
08:32Yeah, that the PR team is the Celtics.
08:35But it's not Jason's PR team.
08:37Right.
08:38The Celtics.
08:39Jalen made it seem like, oh, Jason had a good PR team.
08:42Like, I don't think Jason Tatum saying, hey, hey, Scal, when you get a chance, make sure you're defending me.
08:47You know, make sure you say.
08:48Like, I don't.
08:49Scal's just doing it on his own.
08:50Is there any chance, if the post isn't made about the documentary and the cap is not sent out by
08:57Jalen Brown and the lamb chops and gravy,
09:00that Scal, at any point during any of the first week broadcast, brings up the fact that Jalen Brown led
09:06the league in turnovers?
09:07Is that ever discussed?
09:08No.
09:08You're saying if Jalen ever posted the.
09:10No.
09:11Okay, so it is the definition of a PR team that is doing this in defense of Tatum, not at
09:17the behest of Tatum, in defense of Tatum.
09:19Yeah, and that's what I'm saying.
09:21Scal's just being a foxhole guy.
09:23All right, you're taking shots at our best player.
09:25And he knows the two of them, and he's probably very experienced with the way both of them would act.
09:30And he knows what's happening behind closed doors.
09:35Like, say what you want.
09:36Maybe he said it in a way he shouldn't have said it.
09:39But he ain't saying that because he's making it up.
09:42He's hearing stuff.
09:44When he says there were Jalen was saying to guys like, hey, would you want to come to Milwaukee?
09:51Scal's not making that up.
09:53There's no way Scal's making that up.
09:55Right?
09:56So there's some truth there.
09:57Maybe he might be embellishing, you know, oh, this is the demands.
10:01But he's not embellishing that Jalen didn't go to them.
10:06I believe Jalen might have went and said, hey, here's an ultimatum.
10:10Trade me wherever you want to, however you want to word it.
10:13Like, if something doesn't change here.
10:15If you're not going to treat us both as equals, then I would like to be playing somewhere else.
10:22I would like to ask a quick question.
10:23Very simple.
10:24Truth serum.
10:26Who does Boston mean more to?
10:29Jalen Brown or Jason Tatum?
10:31What do you mean?
10:32Who does Boston mean more to?
10:33Who cares about the city more?
10:35Who cares about the city more?
10:36I would say Jalen.
10:37I would agree.
10:38Me too.
10:39But who cares about the team?
10:41It's all that matters.
10:42So what?
10:43You don't care about the city.
10:44I don't need you to be out, you know, shaking hands and Dorchester and Eastie and running up and down
10:50and being at Franklin Park.
10:51The trade component of it means Jalen Brown never wanted to leave.
10:55He just wanted to be treated the same.
10:56No, no, but Jalen might love the city, but sooner or later he gets fed up with the organization and
11:03goes, okay, I'm ready to leave.
11:05Right, and they're all proving his point.
11:07They were so ready to just crap on his head the second he left.
11:10This is what he was dealing with on a day-to-day basis.
11:12Right, but we knew that when they tried to deal him for Kevin Durant.
11:15Like, the team has been trying to deal Jalen Brown for a number of years.
11:19So Jalen has just been like, man.
11:22So then wait, so I thought he demanded the trade.
11:23But they've been trying to trade him.
11:25No, but I'm saying initially they've been trying to trade him.
11:28But maybe he got to the point where he got fed up.
11:30Like, you guys have already tried to trade me in the past.
11:34If you're not going to put me on the same level as Jason Tatum, then maybe just ship me out
11:38of here.
11:39This kind of gives me a headache.
11:41But this is what the story is, man.
11:43It ain't going nowhere.
11:44It's just, like, we'll never know what actually happened behind closed doors.
11:48So it really comes to what you believe.
11:50And so we're never going to agree on it.
11:53But I asked the question to the room yesterday.
11:55Is it more likely what you believe?
11:58Do you believe Jalen asked for a trade at some point in time in some way?
12:03Or do you believe Jason Tatum went to them and said, trade him?
12:07I believe Jason Tatum said he wanted Jalen Brown out of here.
12:10Okay.
12:11That's what I personally believe.
12:13That's what you believe.
