The crime situation is impacting the world of work, and it's being noticed at the Industrial Court level.

The court marked the start of the new law term with a special sitting, on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Joint Trade Union Movement wants a member of the court removed.

00:07our chairs in place but somehow mysteriously they have disappeared.
00:13A bit strange but with that Tuesday's special industrial court sitting marking
00:19the opening of the new law term got underway. The court's president says the
00:24crime situation in TNT is having a real impact on the world of work.
00:30Some workers may find it unsafe to leave their homes either too early or return home too late
00:38and so may have difficulty in adhering to their scheduled hours of work which
00:44in turn may lead to disciplinary action. Employers are also being urged to ensure
00:50workplace policies keep pace with trends such as artificial intelligence and
00:55hybrid working arrangements. The court has continued to face criticism up to
01:02today however let me assure our detractors none of whom I am sure are
01:10present today that we do not take it personally. Nearby on the Brian Lara
01:15promenade the joint trade union movement leveled criticism at a particular
01:20member of the court. Perception of apparent bias and real perception coming
01:25from a number of trade unions and workers who went before that special
01:30tribunal headed by chairman Mr. Larry Achong. JATOM is calling for Achong to be
