NASA reported on October 23, 2026 that flight-like computers in a Maryland testbed ran Dragonfly’s first simulated flight sequence for Titan. Flight software processed simulated sensor data. In the simulation, Dragonfly separated from its protective shell, scanned terrain, selected a safe site, circled back, and began final descent. The report describes an integrated simulation, not an actual Titan flight or landing. Testing the actual flight system and deliberate fault tests remain ahead. NASA did not disclose the test’s calendar date.
Original illustrations reconstruct the computer testbed and simulated Titan flight; they are not photographs or mission footage.
