Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds says the Prime Minister wants to "set out the long-term options for a sound and consistent and steady relationship with the European Union" ahead of the UK-EU summit in November. Reynolds says the prime minister is already discussing better arrangements for food and agriculture trade but doesn't confirm that freedom of movement is being discussed. Report by Keechl. 00:00So what is being discussed right now is the subject of the UK-EU Summit.
00:04That's the package of measures to improve our relationship with the EU.
00:08It covers food and agricultural products.
00:09It covers how our two electricity systems work and interact with each other,
00:13how the emissions trading system works as well.
00:15That is for next month.
00:17And actually, the benefits of those, if we get it right, I think are underappreciated.
00:21What the Prime Minister has also said is, as part of this process going forward,
00:25he wants to set out the long-term options for a sound and consistent and steady relationship
00:31with the European Union, improving our relationship as it stands.
00:34And we'll talk openly to the British public about the different options,
00:38the strengths, the trade-offs of that.
00:40And I think that's the right thing to do.
