00:02A rallying cry to the party faithful.
00:05Ladies and gentlemen, we are on our way.
00:09While most of the conference was held behind closed doors,
00:13outside the party presented a united front.
00:16The Liberals are well and truly backing Western Australia.
00:18Leader Basil Zemplis applauded for his team's focus
00:21on child protection issues in Port Hedland
00:24and announcing plans to exempt an estimated 3,500 businesses
00:28from payroll tax if elected by lifting the tax-free threshold.
00:32From $1 million to $1.5 million.
00:37Wages are a critical barrier to businesses here in WA
00:41to grow and expand their businesses
00:43and any reforms that can support and help small businesses
00:48are very much welcomed.
00:49The Liberals estimate it would cost the budget
00:51about $300 million a year.
00:54There's absolutely no way to pay for it,
00:57or at least they haven't explained any way they could pay for it.
01:00So where are we going to see the cuts?
01:02Under this state government, spending on pet projects
01:05and excessive spending on other projects is out of control
01:09and there will be a significant reprioritisation of spending.
01:13To implement the policy though,
01:14the Liberals and Nationals first need to win another 18 seats in Parliament.
01:18There is a pathway to victory in 2029.
01:24It may be a path which takes us down a political road less travelled.
01:30Mr Zemplis open to harnessing the rising support for One Nation
01:35to unseat Labor.
01:37Any person in my position would be derelict in their duty
01:39if they are not considering everything that is before them.
01:42A different story on the issue of what a Liberal National One Nation government would look like.
01:47So you're not considering what it would look like practically to work with One Nation at the moment
01:52despite claiming it in your speech?
01:54Er, no.
01:54How to handle the rise of One Nation is continuing to divide the Liberals.
01:59Upcoming elections in Victoria and New South Wales though
02:02will give some insights well ahead of the next state election in 2029.
