00:02Voters in Canada's Alberta province have overwhelmingly rejected a move toward
00:06independence. About 76 percent voted against a proposal that could have led to another vote
00:12on separation, with ballots still being counted this morning. Some supporters of Alberta's
00:17independence movement have even met with Trump administration officials. But the vote comes as
00:22Trump's tariffs and threats to annex Canada have helped fuel a wave of Canadian patriotism.
00:27Prime Minister Mark Carney has been urging Canadians to stick together.
00:31There couldn't be a worse time for this referendum. It's a dangerous and divided world and it's
00:41time for us to come together and stand up for ourselves and to take care of each other.
00:48In a statement early Tuesday, Carney said, quote, Albertans made a clear choice.
00:52They chose unity to build together and to take care of each other.
