00:00Hello everyone! Hi! Long time no see! I'm so glad to see every single one of you.
00:04And today we have a story about a pedicure with nail wraps gone wrong. Anyway, this is pretty much
00:10what we started with. There is a bit of a broken corner, so yes, we'll build it out. I'm not
00:14afraid
00:14to say it. And here is another quirk. The toenails curve downwards. Let me know in the comments if
00:19anyone has come across this in their practice too, but it happens. It's either an anatomical quirk
00:24or, naturally, caused by the shoes they wear. Tight shoes that press against the tips of the
00:29toes, giving us this kind of effect. Oh yeah, and the little toe is pretty quirky too. But we'll
00:34start with cleansing. I'm going to use a foam cleanser. I'm using one from Domix. They've
00:39released a new line with this simple cleansing foam. It cleanses and refreshes the feet really
00:45well. Basically, it's an absolute must-have for work. Next up, I have my drill bead. I'm showing
00:49it directly because I mentioned I don't want a corn bead. I don't really like it. But the beads I
00:53usually show are out of stock on the website. So anyway, we're experimenting. I took a corn bead,
00:58but it's not that bad, I have to say. I know there are lots of nail techs who are huge
01:02fans
01:02of this bead. I went with a fine grit specifically for pedicures. I definitely recommend getting
01:07the red one. So anyway, I filed it off with the bead. Well, it's a decent bead, just an
01:12unfamiliar shape to me, but I know plenty of people use it. Next up, I'm using nippers. I
01:17recently got a question from a subscriber, someone commented on YouTube, saying they bought the
01:22same nippers as mine, but they aren't like cuticle nippers. That's how it's supposed to be,
01:27because these are nail nippers. They're completely, completely different.
01:31And next was my weird little life hack, because this food antiperspirant powder,
01:37which is actually made to stop feet from sweating, I got into the habit of using it
01:42just like regular talc for both pedicures and manicures. But the truth is, the funny thing is
01:47that my usual talc, this one that I normally use, just wasn't on hand one day. And I decided
01:53to try this sweat stop powder. And the cool thing is that it worked great. I also like that it
01:59has a
01:59hint of a menthol scent. So yeah, it kind of gives an extra refreshing effect. That's for everyone
02:05asking how this works, since feet smell after all. It's totally fine. I have foam and all sorts of other
02:11helpful products. But at this point, we are finishing up our pedicure. There was nothing out of the ordinary
02:16here. Just regular feet. But the corner is still missing. Now I'll finish trimming these scissors.
02:23As usual, curved tip scissors. Let me know who wants a review of the classic models with straight blades.
02:30Just tell me in the comments and I'll see about filming that for you. I'll film it anyway.
02:35To be honest, I've already ordered them online. Krasotka had a sale. So, well, you get the idea.
02:43Here I'm still playing around with the foam, because I really love this cleansing effect.
02:49You've prepped everything, removed the dust, and now you're wiping it down for the final cleanup.
02:55And of course, don't forget to work with the curette. This is probably the most used tool in a pedicure,
03:03because it's with this wonderful little digging tool that we can get out everything that shouldn't
03:09be in there. But I want to say right away, don't pull out corns with tweezers like they show in
03:15the
03:15videos. I've talked about this before. Anyway, take a super soft base. I took one from Runeil. By the way,
03:21my name is on the bottle, just so you know. The base is very, very soft. Elastic, it's perfect for
03:26a
03:26pedicure. Next, we take the gel. Toe nail reconstruction gel. I've shown it many times. Mine is collude.
03:32I like its color and, well, its consistency. Although someone wrote that it's kind of a silly
03:37shade, I think it actually blends in perfectly. And it has this advantage. Even if you apply it
03:41right on the tip, like this, it will still hold. It's really cool and great. I just recommend flash
03:46curing it with a handheld UV curing light. I was curing it under the lamp like a fool, but then
03:50again,
03:51I didn't have a handheld UV curing light handy. The gel is cured, I applied it over a regular base.
03:55Now I'm filing it down with a 100-180 grid nail file and shaping the nail, well, let's say,
04:01making it look presentable. If anything gets in the way anywhere, you can always touch it up. With
04:07the very same drill bit we used for the pedicure, there's nothing wrong with that, and diamond bits,
04:12which we use for manicures and pedicures, can also be used to file gel. Nothing will happen to them at
04:17all. Anyway, I'm going to finish this up now, and in just a few minutes our ridiculous story begins
04:24about how I ended up with some awful nail wraps. I'm not going to name the brand, telling you right
04:30away, don't even ask. I'll send all of that in DMs. Long story short, I got some nail wraps to
04:35test out
04:36in a few colors, and I already showed the blue ones. The blue ones were fine, but the red ones,
04:42featured today, despite the gorgeous design, turned out to be a total fail. Right now, by the way,
04:47we can admire how great this toe turned out, and you can't even tell that a corner was missing,
04:51or that anything was built up here. Extended? Well, anyway, to everyone who's about to say,
04:56oh my god, you can't do extensions during a pedicure. Of course you can't. But it's summer,
05:01open-toed shoes, prosthetic gel, so basically everything's done right, everything's totally fine.
05:07As for the wraps, I'll be applying wraps over regular nail polish. I used to apply wraps on burn
05:12nails, and they held up great without any issues at all. But I personally ran into a problem where
05:17I get a reaction to the adhesive layer. My nail plate dries out, and some whitish spots start
05:23appearing. Anyway, I didn't like how that went, so I took my colleague's advice, and now I'm doing it
05:28this way. Just over a clear gel polish, I use Podose Ridomix. It dries really fast. That's a huge,
05:34huge plus. So while you're picking out the wrap, everything has already dried 10 times over. I only
05:40applied it to the big toe, because we're doing gel polish on the rest of the nails, while the big
05:44toe will
05:45have a wrap. The wraps I had for testing didn't come with a sizing ruler. That is definitely a downside,
05:50well, because you have to measure this size. Okay, I used the edge strips you tear off between the wraps,
05:57well, I cut it out, picked the wrap, but the right size wasn't there, so I knew I would have
06:02to trim it.
06:03Well, I thought, okay, I can trim the wrap, no problem, I don't see anything wrong with that.
06:07Now, the nail has a high c-curve, which makes it a pretty tricky case. But the thing is,
06:13toenies very often have a strong c-curve, or pathologically speaking, they are tightly curved
06:18inward, to be honest. So in this situation, when applying the wrap, I try to align it properly along
06:24one of the lateral nail grooves. Well, in most cases, yes, unless it ruins the pattern, for example,
06:29because sometimes if you align it to the side like that, the design gets shifted, shifts over.
06:33Anyway, I aligned it along one lateral nail groove, started smoothing it out, and realized,
06:39there is just a huge excess hanging over on the other side. So I'm going to trim it,
06:43and here I'm using the cuticle scissors again. I really think this type of scissors is absolutely
06:48priceless, because they're curved. And trimming the film along the lateral fold neatly, like this,
06:54is no problem at all. If you use straight scissors, or nippers, it takes forever to cut. But this
07:00method really works for me. I would even say that it would be awesome. And in fact, it really is.
07:05My technicians keep scissors like these specifically just for the fumes. But if you trim them with the
07:11ones we just worked with, it's really no big deal. Because film, well, in terms of hardness,
07:16not texture, it's very close to skin. So they won't dull, they won't get ruined, everything will be fine.
07:24The only thing is that those pieces of film stick to them. And then it's hard to clean. And that's
07:30actually when you could damage the cutting edges and those delicate sharp tips of the scissors.
07:36But here you can watch me struggling to lay out the film, because it was an absolute nightmare. It
07:40completely refused to behave. Right now it still looks like it's fine, but in reality it's already
07:45sticking out at the sides, already acting a little weird. And I looked at it for a long time afterward,
07:53wondering how this happened, why everything was fine with the blue films. But with this one,
07:57everything went completely wrong. And it's going to be awful. Once we cover this up, I'll show it up
08:01close, just so you know what to watch out for, just in case. This was a free model, not a
08:06client.
08:06Nobody charged her anything. It's our receptionist who, well, got the short end of the stick.
08:11She got a pedicure afterward and said, um, can I take this off? We told her, wait, let it grow
08:17out a bit,
08:18then we'll deal with it. But actually she just didn't like the red color. Well, that's the fate of our
08:22receptionists. They suffer, of course, but, but not too much, because all these services are
08:27completely free. And we sat down to shoot some content. By the way, we were filming with my
08:31instructor, um, with Leanna to make a nice video for, um, the basic pedicure courses. We wanted to
08:37add nail wraps as a bonus, but while we were doing it, we realized that nothing good would come of
08:44it,
08:44because both she and I got the exact same result. And for the record, she became a nail wrap instructor
08:49even before I did. So, like, there are definitely no mistakes on our part here. Anyway, as you can see,
08:53the wrap is starting to bunch up. I'm smoothing it down, heating it, laying it out, doing all that
08:58stuff. But it keeps lifting anyway. And on top of that, it's matte. While on the rest of the nails,
09:02we had planned on a red shade, meaning on the one big toenail with the gradient. Since it's curled,
09:08it's recommended to do a wrap and gel polish on the other nails. As you can see, after the first
09:12coat of
09:12top, regular top coat, nothing got any better. I mean, it's still matte. It didn't turn glossy. By the way,
09:17the red is a very red-red. E-M-I-015. Just so you know, take note. It's a very
09:24pigmented
09:25one-coater. So, basically, it didn't get any better. And we thought we'd cover it with a second coat.
09:31You get it, right? Everything got even worse. In short, the regular polish started to dissolve it.
09:36And, well, it wasn't looking great before that either. All of this started lifting along the edge.
09:42We actually took off the pedicure a long time ago and didn't wait around for days, because, well...
09:46Oh, and first of all, she doesn't like red. Well, let's start with the main thing. For some reason,
09:51she kept quiet until the very end. You know, like that client who, after you finish the top coat,
09:55goes, shoot, I don't really like the color. Well, she did pretty much the same thing. I guess she was
10:00just too shy to say anything to us. Because we were just sitting there, loving our work, thinking about
10:04how cool it was filming content forehanded, working on both feet at the same time. Here's the second layer of
10:09top coat. Take a look. Well, it already looks a little better, doesn't it? But honestly, up close,
10:13it's not going to look that great. Now I'm showing how I file the free edge with a nail file.
10:18On the
10:18other toes, we already have gel polish, and everything's already covered with a top coat.
10:22And there is a fine grit nail file there. I think I used 240 grit. See, I have a little
10:29file. Nippon
10:29Nippers sent me such tiny little ones. I use them to file the wraps, because the grit needs to be
10:35really fine for nail wraps. Anyway, just a tiny bit here, because this length is really pushing the limit.
10:40I mean, basically, there is just... Well, that's it. There is no nail left there. And then this poor
10:45thing that we're desperately trying to glue down... Well, honestly, from afar, it looks fine, of course.
10:50All right, let's apply some foot cream, because that's an important part too, an essential step.
10:55Oh, from Domex. It's actually their new blue line. I, like, want to introduce you to this line. It all
11:01smells really nice, and it's so comfortable to use. The cream isn't sticky. So, basically, for summer, it's just
11:07the absolute best for clients who want cream. Some ask not to apply anything at all, because they're
11:12wearing sandals. Anyway, this is what it looks like. See, there's an accordion fold in the lateral nail
11:17fold. On one side, on the other side, and at the free edge, there's this awful mess. Basically, if you
11:24come across a nail wrap like this, it won't stay on, and nothing good will come of it either. Well,
11:30it's not
11:30the end of the word, but let's just draw some conclusions. It shouldn't be like this.
11:35Good luck.
11:35Well, that's right.
11:35See you next time.
11:35Bye.
11:35Bye.
