“You have to just pivot and figure it out and learn as you go.”

In a conversation at Fortune MPW with Ellie Austin and Lauren Ratner, Hailey Bieber said building Rhode has meant learning from mistakes in real time in order to help the brand grow.

Bieber and Lauren Ratner launched Rhode in 2022, and three years later e.l.f. Beauty agreed to buy the brand in a deal worth up to $1 billion, one of the buzziest beauty acquisitions in recent years. Bieber has since stayed on to lead creative and product innovation alongside Ratner, Rhode’s cofounder, president, and chief brand officer.
