00:00You killed the Beanie Babies to make your sleep mask. Okay.
00:03There are fewer sacrifices, it's true. I've always been a sleep mask wearer.
00:07I mean, never mind that I don't like straps or Velcro, but they had these little pads on the inside
00:12of my mask
00:12that just helped close my eyelids and turn my brain off.
00:15We were traveling without it, so when I used the sleeve of my sweatshirt, I thought, here's my big idea.
00:20And my mom is an exceptional seamstress, and I said, I've got this idea.
00:24Okay, it's long, no straps, no Velcro.
00:26I needed something to fill it, and my kids at the time had Beanie Babies that was constantly washing and
00:32drying.
00:32I thought, what's inside of these?
00:34I researched the beads, and upon my research, found them in a thing called a weighted blanket.
00:39Now, this is back in 2012.
00:41Yeah.
00:41What the heck is a weighted blanket? That's weird.
00:44Yeah.
00:44I'm doing this deep dive on the science.
00:47At the time, it had been used clinically in occupational medicine for people with ADHD, anxiety, depression,
00:54very successfully to help them calm the central nervous system.
00:59And the science is so simple.
01:00Gentle, constant pressure against your body.
01:02You feel something.
