00:00Officials in DR Congo are accusing former President Joseph Kabila of planning a general attack on the country.
00:08Kabila on Monday joined forces with the rebel M23 to head a new outfit,
00:14taking a more direct role in the insurgency, ravaging eastern DRC.
00:20This is a widespread attack against the Republic, a widespread attack against the Congolese people,
00:26against the people's power to choose its leaders, the people's power to live in peace,
00:32the people's power to refuse to live in a camp for displaced persons.
00:37The choice to take up arms means killing Congolese people in the hope of conquering territories,
00:42and the Congolese people have already overwhelmingly rejected this kind of adventure,
00:47and it's the Congolese people who will ensure their own defense.
00:52The new group, the Front for the Re-Foundation of the Nation, was presented as a politico-military outfit.
00:59It's headed by Kabila, who returned from exile last year, with M23 leaders serving as deputies.
01:08They said the group will pool their strengths and resources in order to put an end to tyranny by any
01:14means, including force.
01:16We have commitments to peace that we've reiterated several times,
01:22in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2773, the Washington Accords, and the Doha Framework.
01:30We remain firm in our commitments to resolve the security aspect of the crisis,
01:36in particular with the father, Rwanda, in Washington,
01:39with the Sun M23, the New Look M23, Kabila in Doha,
01:45but also now with the political dialogue that's being discussed here in Kinshasa.
01:51Kabila was condemned to death in absentia last year for complicity with the M23,
01:56allegations he denies.
01:58On Friday, he accused President Shisekedi's government of being motivated solely by its own perpetuation in power.
