This is the famous Pink Planet. There's just one problem โ nobody has ever seen it pink.
In 2013, the Subaru Telescope directly photographed GJ 504b, a giant world 57 light-years away. Its portrait glowed magenta โ but that picture was an artist's concept. It has never been detected in visible light.
At 25 times the mass of Jupiter, it straddles the blurry line between planet and brown dwarf. Scientists still aren't sure which it is.
Then in June 2026, the James Webb Telescope read its atmosphere for the first time โ and found clouds made of salt. The first direct evidence ever, confirming a 15-year-old prediction.
Not a pink planet. A salty mystery. ๐ง
