00:00Floyd is a blue-tongued skink. He's about 23 years old, maybe a little bit older.
00:07He's an old fella. He's been with us at the zoo for a long time.
00:12He does a lot of educational programs, teaches kids about his species and about conservation.
00:18And it was about a year ago that the zookeepers noticed that he was not quite himself.
00:23He wasn't eating very well. He wasn't moving around very well.
00:26And we determined with an exam at the hospital and some x-rays of his body that he has arthritis
00:34in a lot of joints,
00:36in his elbows and his shoulders and his knees and some of his toes.
00:40And we started a pretty intense treatment plan with this guy that included a lot of different medications
00:47and helping him with his nutrition and also including physical therapy to help this older guy feel better and move
00:54better.
01:00So it's been about almost about a year and Skink Floyd is doing great.
01:05He's moving around well. He's comfortable.
01:08And he's teaching children again about conservation and nature.
