00:05We're here at the San Diego Zoo and we're doing our weekly weigh-in and check-in of our koala
00:10moms with their new baby joeys just to make sure that everyone's growing and doing well like they
00:14should be. So we need to get some weights today. Okay, who do we need? We need Tonalia Camby and
00:23their joeys. We weigh all of our koalas once a week and it's just really important for us to
00:28make sure that they're growing like they should be, especially with the joeys when they're so young.
00:32And it also gives us an opportunity to get a good up close look at them and make sure everything
00:36is
00:37okay. To get the weights on the koala moms and their joeys, we have to get them down from their
00:43spot. We try to keep it as quick as possible so that nobody gets stressed out and we have to
00:49basically
00:49take mom and joey down at the same time. We just basically grab mom and baby, quickly weigh mom
00:55without baby and then we just put baby back on mom's back and then we get the weight on the
00:59joey that
01:00way. All right, mom is 5.6. Oh my gosh, you're a monster.
01:16Their weights are doing really well. The weights from this morning went up just like they should.
01:39So Tonalia's joey is named Burra, which means big fella, which is very appropriate because he's a little
01:45bit bigger than the other joey. And then Cambie's joey is named Cody, which means boy since they're
01:51both boys. So that's a good name for him. Sometimes our koala joeys do try to switch moms or they'll
01:58go to
01:58the other mom for a little bit and we'll always make sure that eventually they get back to their
02:02proper mom. But they like to explore and they like to experience new things. Our joeys are pretty much
02:08out all the time now. So it's a really good time to come. They're getting a lot more independence.
02:12So we're seeing a lot more movement from them. They're starting to eat eucalyptus. So it's a
02:17really exciting thing to come and see along with all the other koalas that we have here at the zoo.
