00:27Wow, I can't believe
00:29we're finally here. This park is gorgeous. I wonder why Ken's aunt said she needed our help.
00:37Right? Lady Carson said she'd explain everything when we got here, so now I'm super curious.
00:44Whoa, this is amazing. I can practically smell the documentary potential from here.
00:57Are you sure that's not just the stable?
01:03Haha, very funny. But speaking of stables, Lady Carson said that's where we should meet her.
01:10Let's head there now and get this adventure started.
01:25Top secret mission aside, what are you girls most looking forward to doing during this trip?
01:33I'm so excited to go horseback riding with Lady Carson. She's an equestrian icon.
01:39She certainly is. I'm looking forward to finally meeting her in person. What are you looking forward
01:46to, Barbie? I'm super excited to see all of the wildlife, especially the wild horses. How about
01:52you, Mr. Roberts? Well, you know me. I'm a documentarian through and through. I'm excited
02:00to learn everything there is to know about the park and then use photos and footage to tell its story.
02:06Now I just have to find the right lens, both literally and figuratively. Where did I put all of my
02:13lenses?
02:14When you find them, let us know if you need help. Yeah, as long as we generally stay focused. I'm
02:22sure
02:22Lady Carson won't mind if we take a couple of detours sometimes. Uh, I want to take all of the
02:28detours.
02:29There's so much to see and we literally just got here. I want to see everything.
02:34Me too, so don't you worry. Between the two of us, I know we're going to see it all.
02:49Think about what you want to share and how you want to share it when you're taking your picture.
02:55Your feelings will reach your audience if you love what you're photographing.
03:15This is it! Canterbury Trail Stable!
03:20Wow! Look at all of those beautiful horses!
03:24And it looks like we got here just in time. I think someone's headed over to see you.
03:32Girls! You're here! Oh, and you must be George!
03:37It's wonderful to finally make your acquaintance face to face. The two of us have much to discuss, but more
03:43on that later.
03:45I'm so glad that all of you could make it to the park. It means the world that you're here
03:50to help out.
03:52I know I promised to explain everything once you arrived. However, if you don't mind, I'd much prefer to show
03:59and tell you.
04:02Would you be willing to discuss the details while we're out riding?
04:16Yeah, totally!
04:23I'd love to polish up my equestrian skills a bit first before we head out, though.
04:32Same! It's always great to practice. Then we'll do just that with your good friends, Tornado and Peppa.
04:40Ah, a trail ride! Now...
04:43What do you say, Dad? Wanna come with us and see the sights?
04:46You're my kid.
04:59Yeah.
05:01It's a little bit more.
05:03We're running.
05:04I'm happy with you.
05:04Oh, I'm happy with you.
05:09We're in the sights.
05:09We're in the sights.
05:11We're in the sights.
05:14We're in the sights.
05:16We're in the sights.
06:19Actually, I left some things back at the car that I should go grab, but I'll be around
06:24if you want to meet back up after you're done.
06:28Very well. Ranger Quinn expressed interest in joining us for a little tour. We'll get
06:34ready to go meet up with her in the meantime.
06:38I'll fly her down and let her know that you're gearing up. Have fun, girls!
06:43Thanks, Dad. We'll see you later. Bye, Mr. Roberts!
06:47Lady Carson, can we go see Tornado and Pepper now?
06:50Yes, they're right over here. Follow me.
07:08Tornado! Look who's come to visit! Say hello!
07:11Hello? Pepper, aren't you delighted to see your friends?
07:24They've certainly missed you and are looking forward to riding with you again.
07:29Before we get started, who would like to ride which horse?
07:35Pepper, please!
07:37Awesome! I'll take Tornado!
07:47Excellent! There are a few things to review before we hit the trail, so let me know when
07:51you're ready and we'll get started.
07:53Alright, let's begin!
07:55As you know, it's very important to greet your horse before you start riding, so go ahead
08:01and give Pepper a pat.
08:18It's wonderful to greet our friends, isn't it?
08:24And, all horses thrive on positive attention, so feel free to pet them whenever you'd like.
08:30Both of you will enjoy the benefits of having a stronger bond.
08:41See? They agree with me!
08:43I know there are more bases to cover, but can we go over them on the trail?
08:49Experience really is the best teacher.
08:51I'd love to mount up and head out.
08:54I couldn't agree more. I believe you're ready to ride.
08:59Mount up and we'll be off. Go ahead and give it a try.
09:06Wonderful! You're ready to get moving.
09:11Let's ride!
09:13Nicely done. Follow me to the trail.
09:21How's everyone feeling?
09:23This is great. It's all starting to come back to me now.
09:26You said it. I can't wait to really get moving.
09:32Not to worry, dears.
09:34Once we're on the trail itself, we'll pick up the pace.
09:49Let's get going.
09:53Marvelous! Ranger Quinn is just up ahead.
10:01Let's get going.
10:06Let's get going.
10:07I should probably re-apply my sunscreen.
10:25Hey girls! Lady Carson.
10:27We're going to ride a part of the through-line trail.
10:30Well, that should give you a good lay of follow my lead.
10:37I think we're ready to go a bit faster now.
10:40Follow along at a nice calm canter.
10:50Alright! Giddy up, tornado!
10:54Let's go, Pepper!
11:05I thought this place was beautiful before.
11:08But now? Stunning!
11:11California Parks really hit differently.
11:14I mean, this is next level even for me.
11:17And I've lived here most of my life.
11:19Gorgeous, right?
11:21This is one of the many scenic spots that you can explore here in the park.
11:25But that's not all we have on offer.
11:28Ranger Quinn is right.
11:29This park is home to many types of wildlife, just waiting to be spotted.
11:34Quite a few creatures should be out and about now.
11:37Perhaps we'll get to see some of them.
12:16Nice to be able to go with the flow and just hang out for a second.
12:25Wow! Look at that!
12:27I see it!
12:29Nicely spotted!
12:30You've got a keen eye.
12:41Ready to pick up the pace a little more?
12:44Try galloping.
12:47Oh, yeah!
12:49Woo-hoo!
12:51Look! Over there!
12:54Good catch!
12:55Clever sighting!
12:57Well done!
13:01Ooh, look at that!
13:03Oh, it's gorgeous!
13:06Oh, it's gorgeous!
13:19All right!
13:21Stop! Stop! Over there! Look!
13:23Goodness!
13:24What do you see?
13:26Wild horses!
13:27A whole herd of them!
13:29Oh, look at them!
13:31They're having so much fun!
13:34You know, every animal we've seen along the trail looks so happy.
13:39And healthy, too!
13:41It's really wonderful!
13:42The rangers must work so hard to keep the park in great shape.
13:47Everyone does their part, for sure.
13:49From us rangers to park specialists, and, of course, our out-of-this-world volunteers, like Lady Carson.
13:55Working with her horses is a dream, and our stables are running so much more efficiently now, thanks to her
14:02expertise.
14:03We've come to depend on her a lot.
14:07Oh, nonsense!
14:08Everything was running just fine before I stepped in.
14:11However, I cannot express my gratitude enough for allowing me to participate in such a worthwhile project during my stay.
14:20That's right!
14:21You mentioned you were here visiting Ken and his family in the invite.
14:25How did you end up volunteering at Canterbury Trails?
14:30Well, since I was coming for such a nice long visit, I wanted to make sure I kept out from
14:35Underfoot and used my spare time most effectively.
14:38I heard about the park and its wild horses and came running.
14:44Combine that with a stable program and a need for volunteers, I bet you signed up immediately!
14:53Precisely! And I'm glad I did.
14:55There is so much to see, learn, and discover here, alongside great potential.
15:02Right! The documentary!
15:04Are we here to help showcase the park's awesome potential so Mr. Roberts can make a documentary about it?
15:12Somewhat. He's here to do just that.
15:15But that's not the only reason I invited you here.
15:18I have a special opportunity I'd like to get you involved in if you're interested.
15:25We're so interested.
15:27But, can we hang out here and watch the wild horses for a little bit longer?
15:32I'm not quite ready to go yet.
15:36Let's ride!
15:38Let's ride!
15:54Now that you've seen some of the many joys the park has to offer, I believe it's time I told
16:00you why I invited you here.
16:02Hop off, and we'll give the horses a bit of a break while we talk.
16:05Yeah, let's take a break. Great job, Pepper.
16:15So, Lady Carson, what's this special opportunity if we're not making a documentary about the park?
16:22Especially if it's something you said you needed our help with, specifically.
16:26Well, after our last adventure, I've come to think very highly of you both.
16:31Your optimism, follow-through, attention to detail, and passion for helping others is just what Canterbury Trails needs to continue
16:40thriving.
16:40While volunteering here, I've noticed that the park could use a little extra help.
16:46Everyone is working so hard and doing such a wonderful job.
16:50But things could be improved, for everyone, if we were to turn Canterbury Trails into a nature preserve.
16:57Especially the wild horses living here.
16:59We want to be able to provide them with a beautiful, thriving home for us.
17:04Anything to help the horses!
17:06So what's the plan? We want in.
17:08We were hoping you'd say that.
17:10So the Federal Park Service just announced that they're able to offer a ton of support to the next park
17:17that becomes a nature preserve.
17:20It'd be huge for the park if we could make that happen.
17:23Then we'd always get exactly what we need in order to take care of the horses and the park.
17:28And keep it as a protected spot for everyone to enjoy.
17:32Then let's make it happen!
17:34What do we have to do?
17:35Complete and turn in a preserve packet containing proof that the park has locations with natural splendor, important wildlife, places
17:44of historic or cultural significance, and recreational potential.
17:48And we may be selected.
17:51Oh, so like photographing the park and turning in the pics.
17:55That's totally up our alley.
17:57We'd be happy to do that.
17:59And if we get to keep riding, we could really put the horse in horsepower and get it done super
18:05fast.
18:05Lady Carson, can we keep borrowing Tornado and Pepper?
18:09Actually, since they already know the park quite well, working on the packet could be an excellent opportunity to get
18:16some of our newer horses up to speed.
18:18Would you be interested in training up these new horses so that they're ready for guests or other rangers when
18:23duty calls?
18:24I love working with young horses!
18:27Yes, please!
18:28It's settled then.
18:30Once we finish our trail ride, we'll get everyone set up for success.
18:34Let's get going.
18:39Let's ride!
18:41Are there a lot of other trails in the park we should check out while we're working on the packet?
18:45There are quite a few, but you can ride wherever you like.
18:49There are also some trails that we've planned out, but haven't officially marked yet because everyone's just so busy.
18:56Is there anything we can do?
18:57I know we're not rangers or anything, but we're happy to help anywhere we can.
19:01Huh.
19:01You may not be rangers, but if Ranger Annalise makes you junior rangers in training, you'd be able to help
19:08out with official tasks.
19:10What do you think?
19:11Really?
19:12We could become junior rangers?
19:14No way!
19:15I love the sound of that.
19:17Junior rangers Barbie and Barbie reporting for duty.
19:20It sure does have a nice ring to it.
19:23I'll radio Ranger Annalise when we get back.
19:25I think she'd love to get you on board.
19:30Woohoo!
19:43I have to get back to my post, but feel free to swing by any time.
19:47I'm never too busy for junior rangers in training.
19:51We'll come see you later.
19:53Thanks, Ranger Quinn.
19:55Is now a good time to get saddled up with our new horses?
19:59It's the best time.
20:01Let's head back to the stables.
20:02Follow me.
20:05We're right behind you.
20:07Ha ha ha ha ha!
20:24Wow, that was such a great trail ride.
20:27Everything came right back to me.
20:29Same.
20:30Just like riding a bike.
20:32Lady Carson, is there anything we have to do to stable Tornado and Pepper before we meet
20:37our new horses?
20:38Ha ha ha ha!
20:40Ah, yes.
20:41Yes, you're quite right.
20:42I know it's one of your favorite parts of the day.
20:46We'll finish up by going over some basic stabling.
20:49It will make Tornado and Pepper.
20:51It will make Tornado and Pepper very happy.
20:52After all that riding, you'll notice that Tornado and Pepper are looking a bit dusty.
20:58Let's get them cleaned up.
21:00Here is some shampoo and a curry comb for Pepper.
21:03If you could get her all nice and clean while I take care of Tornado, I would be most appreciative.
21:16Use the shampoo and curry comb to groom Pepper.
21:20She'll be so happy to be clean.
21:33Hello, Barbie.
22:00Remember to reward your horse often with pets.
22:03And sometimes, with treats, positive interactions will strengthen your bond.
22:25Remember to reward your horse often with pets.
22:28And sometimes, with treats, positive interactions will strengthen your bond.
22:42Hmm.
22:42Hmm.
22:43Hmm.
22:44Hmm.
22:45Hey!
22:45Oh, now that's what I call squeaky clean.
22:50How do we do, Lady Carson?
22:52Is there anything else we need to know about grooming?
22:56Excellent job. You both did wonderfully. All you need to remember is to groom your horses occasionally while you're out
23:04and about.
23:05A clean horse is a happy horse. Got it.
23:12Well said. Oh, and that reminds me. We need to finish up by going over a few last items of
23:19horse care.
23:20Meet me at the hitching post when you're ready.
23:25Splendid. You found the hitching post. This is where you'll be able to equip your horses with a proper tack.
23:31Tack is such a great word. It means all of the equipment we need to keep everyone comfortable while we're
23:38riding, right?
23:39Precisely. The tack you'll be responsible for on your new horses is their bridles, saddle blankets, and saddles.
23:46And don't forget the most stylish part. The accessories!
23:50An important component to be sure. Whenever you wish to change tack and accessories for your horses, or even for
23:58yourselves, you can do so at the hitching posts all throughout the park.
24:02And, as a reward for completing your first trail ride and for taking such great care of Tornado and Pepper,
24:09I'd like to give you your very first accessory.
24:13Oh wow! It's so pretty! Can we put it on Pepper now?
24:16Go right ahead. Pepper loves to be fashionable.
24:20Awesome! Time for a major look.
24:23Give Pepper a new look at the hitching post. She loves to be stylish.
24:32Looking great!
24:35Oh! She looks so pretty!
24:38I love it! Totally fashion forward!
24:42Oh! Stunning! Just stunning!
24:44It's not always just about tips, tricks, and techniques.
24:48We also love to have fun with style.
24:51You girls are now practically experts in horse care.
24:54We will give the horses a snack to keep up their energy and thank them for their hard work.
25:00Here are some apples and carrots.
25:02Go ahead and feed one of them to Pepper.
25:05Pick something to feed Pepper.
25:07She's probably hungry after that long ride.
25:11I've got something for you!
25:16Thank you so much again for taking such good care of Tornado and Pepper.
25:21I truly appreciate it.
25:32Now, let me introduce you to your new horses.
25:36Dancer and Lucky.
25:39Wow! They're so beautiful!
25:42They look pretty peppy, too.
25:44We're going to have so much fun working together.
25:47Go ahead and greet them.
25:49I'll put Tornado and Pepper back in their stalls while you're getting acquainted.
26:02Lucky!
26:03Lucky!
26:12I'm back.
26:13How are you all getting along?
26:15I feel like I've met my new best friend.
26:18Same here.
26:20Instant connection!
26:28Ranger Quinn sent me.
26:29Um...
26:29Hi!
26:31Sorry to interrupt.
26:32Ranger Quinn sent me.
26:33I'm Ranger Annelise.
26:35I'm looking for Barbie.
26:37Hi!
26:38That's us!
26:39We're both Barbie.
26:40We have the same name, so we call each other by nicknames when we're both in the same room.
26:45That's right, I'm Malibu, and she's Brooklyn.
26:48Is there something we can help you with?
26:51Oh, there's two of you, great, I'm the new head ranger, and I really need your help to
26:57prove how wonderful Canterbury Trails is, um, and some help with our couple of tasks.
27:05Will you become junior rangers in training to help the park become a nature preserve
27:09so we can all continue to do our best?
27:12We're all in, we'll do whatever it takes to help you complete the packet and make that
27:16dream a reality.
27:17And we'll get to spend more time with the horses while we do it, win-win.
27:26Amazing, here's the packet and your trainee badges, that should be everything you need.
27:31Wow, we're now officially on duty, I can't wait to get started.
27:36Oh, before we start, can we take some time to get to know our horses first?
27:40A stronger bond will make us better partners.
27:46Oh, sorry, yes, uh, absolutely, please do.
27:49I'll be at the park office whenever you're ready for your first official task.
27:53And just so you know, there are other specialists all around the park.
27:57Check in with them when you can, everyone's eager to do their part to help you.
28:02Also, girls, before I forget, your father is at the park entrance.
28:06He says he has something for you.
28:09Oh, great, we'll go pick it up and head out.
28:12Thanks, Ranger Annalise, Lady Carson.
28:20Oh, no, thank you, girls.
28:22I'll see you both at the park office in a bit.
28:37I'll see you both at the park.
28:38Thanks, Ranger Annalise.
