06:01He's ruffled a few feathers, but well dealt with.

06:35He's got a better angle to get a shot away.

06:36I suppose at least, and I suppose at least he showed the best option.

06:38He just didn't come off.

06:50And out to safety.

06:51And out to safety.

07:24And out to safety.

07:34So what now.

07:56He's got a run.

07:57He's got a run.

07:58He's got a run.

08:07He's got a run.

08:15He's got a run.

08:36He's got a run, he's got a run.

08:38He's got a run of and he's got a run.

08:40He's got a ton, he's got a run away.

09:05It's not concerned by that he knows very well he can score from that distance quite this time

09:39Joel voltman gathers from the goal kick it's a loose ball

09:50Tries a through ball out towards the flank

10:01It's a very good battle there terrific to watch

10:04Well we were unlikely to see a goal then because there were so many players crowding out that danger area

10:10I think something very special was going to be needed

10:13Oh it's opened up nicely for him

10:16The balls come loose and the chase is on

10:27Oh

10:28With a delicate ball played out wide

10:44You could just about hear the collective sigh there they know they got away with one

10:51Some good play on the left hand side now to profit from it

10:57Chance

11:02David class

11:03Tries to get it forward quickly

11:06Brings it forward

11:09Plays it out to the flank

11:11Shurda

11:12It's Shurda

11:14Saved only by poor finishing

11:15Well there's no messing about with this fella is there

11:18Just went straight down the middle

11:19If only he could have applied the finish with the same conviction

11:41He's made sure that that won't get through

11:47He is not one readily to admit defeat

11:50Don't be surprised if he tries that again

11:52Out wide to the right

11:55Now the pass

11:56Oh real chance

11:59It's in

12:00On the cusp of half time

12:03He delivers

12:04With perfect timing

12:10I've given such an open invitation

12:12He was always going to shoot

12:14Well we've just seen intelligent football

12:16From intelligent footballers

12:18That's honed on the training ground

12:19And lovely when it comes off on match day

12:46Deadlock broken

12:47It's 1-0

12:48We know they're in control now

12:50But they can't let their concentration drop

12:52Not one bit

12:58Goodell

12:59Tore at them

13:00And just came up short

13:06It's the route one option

13:10Can he find a finish now

13:12He's come loose

13:18Oh and they really should have been made to pay

13:32He's got rid of that

13:35It's ball

13:36Who's going to get that

13:41The referee brings the first half to a close

13:44I honestly don't think they need to change anything in this second half

13:47They just need to believe in themselves

13:48Stick to the game plan

13:50And I'm sure they can turn this scoreline around

13:55That's the first half then

13:56A lovely start

13:57But that will all shake our spirits, will it?

14:04Here we go again

14:07Ajax didn't have a great first half

14:09They need a change of fortune

14:14Ajax didn't have a great first half

14:16They need a change of fortune

14:19They need a change of fortune

14:22They need a change of fortune

14:25They need a change of fortune

14:26They need a change of fortune

14:29They need a change of fortune

14:30They need a change of fortune

14:31They need a change of fortune

14:32They need a change of fortune

14:33They need a change of fortune

14:34They need a change of fortune

14:37They need a change of fortune

14:48on the side really getting hold of the ball

14:57David Klaassen hits it back

15:06chance to shoot

15:08appearance and very necessary

15:11David Klaassen

15:13and it's Kutel

15:23David Klaassen

15:36big chance

15:46now it's Shona

15:50Shona

15:52keeps everyone guessing

15:55Shona

15:57really well taken goal

15:59they have hauled themselves right back into it

16:08wonderful stuff and it was all about quick thinking and even quicker feet

16:11but you have to ask questions as to how he got through

16:33Ajax

16:34look as though they're about to make a change

16:40and that has added a whole new complexion to the game

16:44oh look I love watching games like this when both teams are given everything they've got to try and win

16:49it

16:49this is all the makings of a cracker

16:53he's off on a marauding run

16:56he's had a go

16:57oh taken with style

17:00and they get themselves in front

17:07none of us were exactly sure how that was going to end up then

17:11but I'm delighted to see such a happy ending after such a splendid dribbling run

17:15I mean he really did fool that defence into wondering what he was going to do next

17:29well they are still trailing

17:32and they require a change of fortune pretty sharpish

17:37it's the channel

17:38oh well intercepts it really alerts the danger

17:50up he gets

17:52they've scored

17:54two up

17:56and threatening to pull clear

18:02well it was a hefty deflection but he's claiming it

18:19well they've got themselves into such a good position now with a two goal cushion

18:23I wouldn't like to be in their dressing room if they let this one slip

18:33Ajax are desperately short of time with plenty to do

18:37he's just drifted beyond the last defender

18:52let's run down the left

18:53what can they make of it

19:01get up to head it

19:12Schörner

19:20it's long but forward

19:24Klaassen

19:27Just about here the collective sigh there they know they got away with one

19:34Good interception

19:38A little short of Ford momentum lacking thrust and it's shorter

19:50It's shorter

19:52It's another chance goes to waste well

19:55I wonder if their profligacy will rebound on them somehow, you know

19:59They're very much on the up here and yet they can't convert a string of very decent opportunities

20:11Past towards the front

20:19Looks like a good ball through. It's been intercepted and that will come to nothing

20:41Steered out wide

20:44A chance and the finish

20:48And oh

20:50That is wayward

20:53Good

20:54Good run down the left hand side

21:09Here comes the corner

21:11Here comes the corner

21:21Is it out of harm's way

21:24No, it's close

21:25No, it's close

22:13Looks to slip it through

22:19Small kick

22:22That's a good throw at all ready

22:44He's given away possession

22:46He's given away possession cheaply

22:50Pumps it forwards

22:52Pumps it forwards

22:54And this is Schroeder

22:57And the whistle's gone

22:58As you repeat for offside

23:14Looking to force his way through

23:16Tries a through ball

23:21Towards the front

23:22Towards the front

23:24They've got it back as soon as they gave it away

23:33And that will be the final act

23:36Ajax

23:37Have gone down in the opening game here

23:39A big disappointment for those who've so looked forward to it

23:42But there is plenty of time to turn it round

23:44Your final thoughts Jim

23:46Look, every manager wants to get off to a winning start

23:49And at least set a positive vibe for what's to follow

23:52Instead he's now got to ensure that all his players keep their chins up

23:56And go and try and win the next one

24:00I think we're just about out of time

24:01So many thanks to Jim

24:02And a very good afternoon to you

24:25Just a littlechecks

24:25Going to announce that Bill

24:36Under meta

24:36W

26:07I'm Peter Drury, and it's my chance to say that it is an absolute delight to have Jim Beglin beside

26:13me.

26:13Cheers, Peter. It's a privilege to be here. It really is.

26:27So, it's away we go then.

26:34Good defending there. They've slammed the door in the faces of the opposition.

26:39Ajax are still to get up and running after defeat on the opening day.

26:43Now's the chance to launch their season.

26:47Oh, he's showing a lack of urgency.

26:51Yeah, he just took too long to make his mind up.

26:53What a big opportunity missed then.

26:57Well, that should set them on their way and get into a nice rhythm.

27:01The early signs are very encouraging now.

27:17Good work on the right flank. Now, what's next?

27:23Where to from here?

27:30David Klassen tries to get it forward quickly.

27:33And the counter is on. Looking to force his way through.

27:43Sure enough.

27:47Just about here, the collective sigh there.

27:50They know they've got away with one.

27:51Who's ball? Who's going to get that?

27:55Good running with the ball. Can they build on it?

28:02It's a better possession this, but very little to show for it.

28:07A real chance to break.

28:09And he's through on goal.

28:13Goal! Ajax!

28:15And Ajax take the lead.

28:21Really outwitted one-on-one.

28:23Once more, he gets the better of the keeper.

28:26Well, when you go one-on-one with the keeper,

28:28you can't afford any indecision.

28:30And that was decisive and clinical.

28:46Ajax are ahead.

28:48One goal to the good.

28:58Passes it through.

29:03Well, we were unlikely to see a goal then because there were so many players crowding out that danger area.

29:08I think something very special was going to be needed.

29:13Timely intervention.

29:25And it's over the line and it is a corner.

29:35The ball's come loose and the chase is on.

29:41They got the only goal to make it 1-0.

29:45And he's shown him a clean pair of heels.

29:48A chance!

29:50Oh, take and win style!

29:53And already, they're looking to run away with it!

29:58Well, no goalkeeper would keep that out.

30:00It really was a bullet.

30:02Oh, the contact was fantastic.

30:04Right on the boot laces and it packed a lot of venom for what was a really potent strike.

30:34Ajax gives themselves a two-goal cushion.

30:36That second goal is such a a polarizing effect on perspective wounds

30:41I mean one team are under more pressure now to get the next goal and the other will fancy their

30:46chances of turning two into three

30:53Sure not now it's class. It's close on

30:59They are running riots

31:02All too easy. They are in danger of disappearing out of sight

31:11Oh my goodness that has ripped the rigging that is just the top drawer finish

31:17He was always in control and couldn't have placed it any better

31:34Oh

31:53Ajax take a three-goal lead and they are romping out of sight

32:01Oh, it's open up nicely for him

32:03It goes to show he is human after all. Well, there's no messing about with this fella

32:08Is there just went straight down the middle if only he could have applied the finish with the same conviction

32:31Ajax with a quick-fire double

32:38Promising but eventually thwarted without doing any harm
