03:00The Maple Leafs have moved to the neutral zone.
03:04And they are in.
03:08Shot. Stared him down and made the save.
03:10You don't get many better opportunities than that.
03:13Great save.
03:15No luck getting through puck loose.
03:19Let's it go.
03:20Outstanding save made off a terrific chance.
03:25Gains the zone.
03:27Gains the zone.
03:27That puck's loose.
03:28He couldn't get through the roadblock.
03:30Let's it go.
03:33Pittsburgh's in their own end setting things up.
03:36And he continues with it up the wing.
03:39Good use of the stick.
03:41Good use of the stick broke that pass up.
03:43Can he generate something?
03:48Using the point.
03:49He's got it.
04:00Let's hope that there's lots more going to happen here other than what we've seen in the first part of
04:04this game.
04:04The teams are gently prodding and trying to find an opening.
04:08But there's not much going on.
04:10Blocked away.
04:16Gardner's carrying it back in his own end hoping for neutral ice.
04:22Grabbed by Brown.
04:24Shot on goal.
04:25They score.
04:31Some shots.
04:32Only one goal.
04:34A lot of opportunities.
04:35Love the mindset of getting pucks and people to the net.
04:40Pittsburgh's collected another victory on the faceoff.
04:50He's got it.
04:52Pitching it to Komarov.
04:56Oh!
04:57Broke it up!
04:59Keeps it going through the center zone.
05:02Gets in and he'll look over his options.
05:15Pitching this one to Hainsey.
05:19And they've got it again.
05:24Right on his stick from the left wing.
05:27And he gains the zone.
05:30Corralled by Komarov.
05:36Shot down the ice.
05:38Icing.
05:40Toronto's coaching staff's done an exceptional job this year.
05:43Moving the pieces of the puzzle around to get the best results.
05:46As a result of a lineup that's pretty varied.
05:49They're tough to play against.
05:51And they lead the league standings as a result.
05:55He's got that point pass.
05:57Not a hard hit but effective.
05:58It's lost.
06:03A shot.
06:04Good quick poke check there.
06:06Shot.
06:07That shot came from right in front.
06:09You talk about cutting down the angle.
06:11Perfectly executed by the goaltender.
06:21Looking for options up the wing.
06:24In the slot.
06:25He's taken a perfect centering pass.
06:38Pressing on with it up the wing.
06:40And he gains the zone.
06:43Gives it over to the point.
06:47Pranks won.
06:48Great chance but he missed.
06:50Well that was a pretty brutal shot.
06:51He missed the net by 15 feet.
06:53He's better than that.
06:54Thrown in.
06:57Around through the corner.
07:04Gathered in by Cole.
07:08Slides it to the point.
07:10Puts one on.
07:12Oh that one hit someone on the way.
07:17Pittsburgh's in control of the puck up the wing.
07:22Points it.
07:24Flings it.
07:25Oh he got in the way of that one.
07:44The Penguins have had an excellent last 10 games.
07:47And they're full of confidence.
07:48They were telling us this morning.
07:49Even though their opponents have had an excellent last 10 games as well.
07:53They feel they're the better team.
07:56Strong wrist show.
07:57He scores!
07:59A pair of goals by the same team.
08:03The Penguins now have a one goal lead in the first period.
08:06Perhaps they can build on this and carry something sizable to the dressing room.
08:12It's a face off win.
08:13May not seem important in that territory.
08:15But they have possession.
08:17Kessel's trying to do way too much there with that offensive opportunity.
08:21Toronto's continuing to probe up the wing.
08:24Blue line control.
08:26Fires!
08:27They can't find the target.
08:28That's a good scoring chance.
08:30He's trying to be too fine.
08:31Trying to pick the corner.
08:32Sometimes you've just got to shoot it at the middle of the net.
08:36One timer.
08:37Great stick save.
08:40Tries to clear.
08:43And the possession taken by Crosby.
08:47Hanging on to it up the wing.
08:51Gives it to the point.
08:54Defender held his ground.
08:55The puck is loose.
08:56And now it's directed to Brown.
09:00And that's an offside.
09:14The first period has come to a close here.
09:17With both teams getting on the scoreboard at least.
09:19There is a lead to carry away though.
09:22Hockey's narrowest lead is what we have here.
09:25One goal.
09:29The Penguins have gotten to center ice.
09:33Gets in.
09:34What'll he do?
09:36In the slot.
09:45Toronto's looking to head man up the wing.
09:48Paddled aside.
09:53Dropped on back further.
09:54Wonderful block.
09:56With no time whatsoever.
09:57He turned it aside.
10:00You want to score goals.
10:00You have to go to this area.
10:09Solid clean win.
10:12And gathered in by Brown.
10:17Not there.
10:18That's a quality chance on the back end opportunity.
10:22Loose puck brought in by Tootin.
10:25Fired up the wing to Kunako.
10:28Gets across.
10:29Looks over his options.
10:31Takes a shot.
10:33Wonderful save on a terrific scoring chance.
10:41Pass attempt to Komarov.
10:44Perfectly on his stick in that pass from the left wing.
10:47Terrific save.
10:49That's a good pad save.
10:51Good hand to eye.
10:53And the reach of the stick.
10:57Good place to shoot from.
10:59And he does.
11:01Toronto's cleared.
11:03A lot of work.
11:04But penalty time less and less now.
11:07Puck controlled by Cole.
11:08Good.
11:11In the slot.
11:12He's got it.
11:16Back on his stick.
11:20And the linesmen were watching very carefully.
11:23That is an offside.
11:33Over five minutes played here in the second.
11:36Both teams have connected twice.
11:43Toronto's prevailed on another face-off.
11:46Yeah.
11:47Shot back out.
11:48All's fine.
11:51The Penguins go back to pick it up.
11:54Time is dwindling on this power play.
11:56That was a pass that just went south.
11:58And so everybody has to get back out.
12:01Passing one off now to Gardner.
12:05Nice pass ahead to Mata.
12:08Wonderful save.
12:12Slit to Van Riemsdyk.
12:15Wonderful job as he plays it up the wing.
12:23Snapping a pass to Kessel.
12:27Onside.
12:30He was outnumbered but not outskilled.
12:33Trying to go to Riley.
12:37Propelled to Komarov.
12:42Gathered in by Crosby.
12:44Puck is thrown to Kessel.
12:48Shoots.
12:49Broken right up.
12:51Chip to Riley.
12:54The Leafs wheel one ahead up the wing.
12:58Fires.
13:02Rotten quickly back.
13:03Oh, that was close.
13:09Puck settled down by Sidney Crosby.
13:13Gains the zone.
13:15Turn to shot on there.
13:17Say!
13:25That was a great job.
13:27Shot back down.
13:28One more time off the clock.
13:33No way he's getting by there.
13:36The Maple Leafs through the neutral zone.
13:38Carrying him.
13:40Fires a shot.
13:42Score!
13:43He got the post with that one.
13:55Well, as a penalty killer, you're worried about keeping the puck out of your own net.
13:58But when you can have an opportunity to go on the offense, you got to take advantage.
14:02And that's exactly what happened there.
14:05Niemey's in aggressive position here to make the save.
14:08But this shot is perfect.
14:09Just off the inside of the post.
14:10Unfortunately for him, it goes into the net.
14:18Hammered.
14:19Hammered.
14:19Not through.
14:22Gains the blue line.
14:24Shutout positioning by Hunwick.
14:28Snaps a shot.
14:31Back in front.
14:32Great point blank save.
14:34You want to score goals, you have to go to this area.
14:37You got to find a way to put it in the net.
14:40Gets that one on across.
14:41Tipped by the stick.
14:43That's just good fundamental defense.
14:45A shot.
14:46What a reaction save.
14:49Puck covered.
14:50Whistle blown.
14:59Just a bit under.
15:01Five minutes remaining.
15:02Toronto's lead on the strength of that recent goal is two.
15:09Shoots one.
15:10Save.
15:14Toronto's carrying on up the wing.
15:17Great poke check.
15:20Wonderful chance was set up and the pass just goes wide.
15:26Gets in.
15:27Looks over his options here.
15:30Let's it go.
15:31Shot.
15:31Score!
15:33They're back to within one.
15:34One.
15:36The Penguins are now back to within one.
15:39Late in the second period.
15:40Still time to even this up before the end.
15:44They win the draw and will now set up an attack.
15:50Picks it up back there.
15:53Moving it to Brown.
15:58Nice tip of the pass.
15:59Nice tip of the pass.
16:02Shoot.
16:03Good.
16:03Score!
16:04He's got his second.
16:09The Leafs now have a two-goal lead and we're late in the second period.
16:14Do they try to protect this at least to get to the horn?
16:18The drama heightens in this final minute of the second period.
16:22The Penguins carry through center.
16:26Into the end of attack.
16:28Great stick work prevents the pass from being complete.
16:31The Leafs have accrued a penalty.
16:33It's a minor for slashing.
16:45Two periods have been played in our game.
16:48A lot of goals have been scored and maybe even more coming up in the third.
16:51And after all of these goals scored, they're just separated by one.
17:00To Komarov.
17:03Pushing it on up the wing.
17:05Loose puck.
17:06Good defensive denial.
17:10Oh, stick save.
17:13Looking to Kunako.
17:15Nicely into the zone.
17:17A shot.
17:18That hit somebody.
17:24Gathered in by Gardner.
17:30Moves to the corner.
17:32A good stick there, so no complete pass.
17:36Great stick work prevents the pass from being complete.
17:43Terrific poke check to break up that odd man rush.
17:47That play went offside.
17:59Puck picked up here.
18:02Around through the corner.
18:05Feeds the point.
18:08It's a point.
18:09Hammer shot.
18:12Wrist shot.
18:13You can almost count that one, but no.
18:18Directing that one to Mama.
18:21It's on his stick.
18:22What a brilliant pass that was.
18:27That one is pointed to him.
18:29He throws it there.
18:30Great glove save, but it's loose.
18:33A whistle and a rest.
18:43Under seven minutes have been played in this, the third period.
18:47High scoring game.
18:49The lead could change at any minute, but right now, it's a narrow one goal game at 5-4.
18:55Got that one ahead at center ice.
19:00That puck's loose because of the defense.
19:03He can start some danger here.
19:05Oh, what a wonderful block that was.
19:17Good job on the draw.
19:18The Penguins are controlling in their own end.
19:22Pitching it to Malkin.
19:25Into the attacking end.
19:28Many yards gained to Cole.
19:30Off a body.
19:35They must retreat and start back again.
19:39To Kessel.
19:41Kessel's known as a goal scorer, but not to the...
19:43Got a stick on it.
19:44Didn't handle it very well.
19:46Three-pop.
19:48Cleared back out.
19:49Not much pressure there.
19:53Got it in his own end.
19:55Pitching this one to Malkin.
20:07A long pass ahead, and it's right on the money.
20:10He's got a chance.
20:11Oh, lightning quick and a terrific save.
20:27Toronto starting back in their own end.
20:31Gathered up again by Malkin.
20:33And that one went offside.
20:41The Penguins prevail on the draw.
20:50It's dumped in.
20:55If we had games like this more often, nobody would be talking about how difficult it is to score goals
21:01anymore in the National Hockey League.
21:03But as it stands tonight...
21:05Terrific point-blank save.
21:07A missed opportunity from this close in.
21:10There's one more game left on this long homestand.
21:12We hope you'll be here to enjoy it.
21:14And if not, Ray, Eddie, and I will be here to bring you all the action.
21:27Pressing on with it through the neutral zone.
21:30And now it's directed to Tootin.
21:32It's brought on, and here's an opposite corner dump of the puck.
21:38Toronto's lugging it through the center ice area.
21:42Shot.
21:43Got in front of another one.
21:48Fires.
21:49Score!
21:50It's a hat trick.
21:51And here they come flying out of the stands.
21:59The Leafs have gotten a two-goal lead in this contest now.
22:03They're probably expecting an attack coming at them.
22:06Because now we're at desperation time.
22:10Toronto's on the move, hoping to wheel it up the wing.
22:14Shoots.
22:15That shot hit a man.
22:19Pittsburgh's moving to center.
22:22He's in on an onside play.
22:24Terrific save.
22:26Just got his pad on that one.
22:30Shot.
22:31Oh, terrific save on a great chance.
22:33With this puck being so close to that, this is all a reactionary save.
22:41And here's Ray.
22:43Doc and Edzo will take a look back at the hat trick.
22:45He's finished from some very difficult spots on the ice,
22:47but has been an exceptional player throughout.
22:50Ray, he's certainly one of the three stars in my book.
22:54A little under three minutes to go in the third period.
22:57Toronto's advantage in this game has just been enhanced.
23:01It's a pair of goals.
23:03Got it at the point.
23:08Glides across.
23:10Shoots one.
23:11Save.
23:18A questionable move at this point.
23:20Shooting it down for an icing, but they've done it.
23:30A big win.
23:31Let's see what happens.
23:36Makes that play deep.
23:40Up the wing and still with it.
23:43He gains the zone.
23:45Wrist shot.
23:46Blockered away.
23:50Takes that pass.
23:52Cranks one.
23:53Oh, he saw the window open, but he didn't even touch the curtain.
23:57This was a heavy shot, but it had no chance of going in because it missed the net.
24:02Pittsburgh's lugging it along in their own end, shifting gears.
24:06Moved up the side by Hagelin.
24:18And that's the horn.
24:19That's the hockey game.
24:21The game is ended.
24:24The Maple Leafs have collected yet another victory, and the chain gets longer.
24:29It doesn't seem to matter who the opponent...
24:31The perpetrator makes no hope.
