00:00According to the first official report issued early this Saturday morning by the Panamanian
00:04government, 27 people have been confirmed injured and more than 400 buildings damaged
00:09as a result of the strong earthquake that struck the country.
00:12The 7.5-magnet earthquake, according to the Panamanian Institute of Geosciences, had its
00:17epicenter near Tonoci, in the southwest of the country.
00:20According to this official toll, there are at least 27 people with minor injuries and
00:26more than 300 people have been evacuated.
00:28So far, there are no reports of missing or dead persons.
00:31However, the affected provinces have confirmed that nearly 142 homes and 4 residential buildings
00:37have been severely damaged.
00:41Authorities continue to assess the damage and humanitarian organizations state that the
00:44challenge now will be to provide assistance to those affected.
