00:00This is a weird game, Terp, this weekend.
00:02I don't, and we keep saying this, is that I don't know whether or not the Raiders deserve to be
00:063-1.
00:07These are bad teams that they've beaten.
00:09Combined 1-11 record.
00:10Crazy.
00:11Completely their three wins.
00:12Crazy.
00:12And on top of that, this is something somebody said earlier.
00:16Why are they getting so much credit for almost beating the Chiefs,
00:20but the Patriots are being discounted for beating the Bills?
00:23Like, afterwards, like, well, their defense wasn't great.
00:25What did you expect?
00:27So, going into this, it's going to be a prove-it game for both teams.
00:30Who are you?
00:31What kind of team are you?
00:32Are you the 3-1 team?
00:33And Patriots, are you the one that we saw against the Bills?
00:36How do you think this thing turns out?
00:37I like the Patriots in this one, and I like them by a touchdown.
00:40I think they're a much better team than the Raiders are,
00:42and I also think some of their weaknesses, or the Raiders' weaknesses,
00:45play into what the Patriots are trying to establish.
00:47The Raiders have not been very good against the run this year.
00:50The Patriots have been trying to establish the run now for four weeks in a row,
00:53and I think it got a little bit better last week, but still not where they want it to be.
00:57So, I think that is a checkmark for the Patriots there.
01:00The one thing I do worry about is the turnovers.
01:02Obviously, no team in the NFL has forced more turnovers this year than the Raiders.
01:06They've had five fumble recoveries.
01:10They forced 10, which is a bigger issue where they're forcing these turnovers,
01:14they're forcing these fumbles, maybe not recovering all of them,
01:17but the Patriots have been very vulnerable in that aspect.
01:19So, I worry about that a little bit.
01:20But if they play like they did last week, with Drake May as poised, confident,
01:24taking care of the football, making good decisions, I think they beat them.
01:27I mean, I really don't think they're all that great.
01:29What did you see in the game against Buffalo, and Drake May specifically?
01:35What did you see that all of a sudden he had this breakout game
01:38that he hasn't played in a long time?
01:40What did you make of his performance,
01:42and is what you saw last week against Buffalo sustainable?
01:46To me, he wasn't pressing anymore.
01:48He looked just more comfortable back there.
01:50He was trusting the guys around him.
01:51He was trusting himself.
01:52He was trusting his reads.
01:54He wasn't forcing anything.
01:55Where there wasn't a play, he was throwing it out of bounds.
01:57And he was still trying to make those off-script plays.
02:00Like, you think about the play where he dropped the ball,
02:02threw it a little jump throw for a first down.
02:04That was an unbelievable play.
02:05That's what we saw last year.
02:06And those were the plays he was kind of timid
02:08in making the first three weeks of the year.
02:10So, he just got back to believing in himself
02:12and believing in the people around him.
02:14And maybe it was going back to Buffalo where he was like,
02:17well, this is where we turned it around last year.
02:18Let's do that again.
02:19We've seen this happen before.
02:20We can do it again.
02:22Maybe it was simple as that,
02:23or maybe it was just conversations from Brable, McDaniels,
02:26the teammates who were going up to him in the locker room
02:28and all that and talking to him.
02:30They got to him across, that message crossed to him.
02:32But it was really just returning back to his form of play.
02:35And I think it is sustainable moving forward.
02:37Maybe not three touchdowns a game,
02:38but the way that they're able to move the ball
02:40and the way he was able to be a dual-threat quarterback,
02:43I think, is sustainable moving forward.
02:44What's the wide receiver depth chart this weekend?
02:47Matt Collins is out.
02:48Matt Collins is out, yes.
02:49He ain't walking through that door.
02:50Not this weekend.
02:51Well, I think Efton Chisholm is going to get more opportunities this week.
02:55Who's the number one?
02:56Romeo Dobbs.
02:57Romeo Dobbs.
02:57It has to be.
02:58And as much as I actually texted Rich during the game
03:00after that interception, I was like,
03:01man, you were right about these Romeo Dobbs drops.
03:04Well, that take didn't necessarily age well
03:06because they don't win that game without Romeo Dobbs.
03:08It's true.
03:08It's true.
03:08He made up for it.
03:09And I do, when you look back at the film on that game
03:11and specifically that rep,
03:13that interception probably is more on Drake May
03:15where he throws it low,
03:16where it doesn't necessarily need to be cost them yards,
03:18potential yards after the catch had he reeled it in anyway.
03:21So I do put that on Drake May more than I do Romeo Dobbs.
03:24But he has been trending up and up and up.
03:26Slow progress, I think,
03:28especially when A.J. Brown goes down,
03:30you really expect him to come in,
03:32kind of be that guy that they paid him like he could be.
03:34So I think he has been getting better and better.
03:36And you can see that there is trust developing
03:39between him and Drake May.
03:40And I think a really obvious part of that
03:43is on both the fourth down conversions,
03:44Drake May through Romeo Dobbs.
03:46Oh, that's right.
03:46On those gotta have it money downs,
03:48he was looking at Romeo Dobbs.
03:49He's the guy.
03:49Let me ask you, Justin Turpin,
03:51about the,
03:52because you were talking about how it wasn't a great throw
03:54and that when Romeo Dobbs turned it over.
03:57So I thought the first time I saw this stat
03:59was the dude from Yahoo,
04:01who wrote that article about how it's not Drake May's fault.
04:04It's the receiver's fault for a lot of the problems.
04:06This was before week four.
04:07And one of the stats that was in there
04:09was that none of the wide receivers
04:11had broken a tackle, not one.
04:13The only person that he had thrown it to
04:14that had broken a tackle
04:16was Hunter Henry at that point,
04:17and it was one.
04:18So somebody else picked up that stat
04:21and like threw it out there this week.
04:22And I saw some people going,
04:24well, that's not a wide receiver problem.
04:26That's a Drake May problem.
04:28Who's not throwing it in the right spot.
04:30I, I got, listen, my opinion is
04:33you catch the ball and say that
04:35at that point, you got to break some tackles,
04:37no matter what you are.
04:38If you're a wide receiver,
04:38there's no excuse for every time it's thrown to you,
04:41you going down at the first time you're touched.
04:43But what was your take on that?
04:44I think it depends.
04:46I think the thing with those kinds of stats
04:47is it eliminates all nuance, right?
04:49Like there are some plays
04:50where the quarterback's throwing it low,
04:52where you're just trying to go down right immediately.
04:54You're just trying to pick up a quick first down,
04:55one of those quick hitters or whatever it may be.
04:57So I think those stats could be misleading sometimes
05:00just because there,
05:01it eliminates all the nuance
05:02and all the different factors
05:04that are part of these games.
05:05Obviously when you're,
05:06it's kind of worrisome
05:07when you're three weeks into it at the time
05:09and you don't have any receivers breaking tackles.
05:11But I have noticed too,
05:13with those PFF charting in the,
05:16what's the other one?
05:16The next gen stats,
05:17like, oh, there's a million of them.
05:19And you look at all these
05:19and all of them have different numbers
05:21and different metrics every time
05:22because it's different people
05:24kind of analyzing it
05:25and breaking those down.
05:26So I'd be interested to see
05:27where other sites and whatnot
05:29had those numbers
05:31where they compare and contrast
05:32because they are always kind of different.
05:34And that's the confusing part about it.
05:36All right.
05:36617-779-7937.
05:38If you got a question
05:39for a top tier Terp
05:41about what that's going to happen
05:42in this weekend's game,
05:43as I said,
05:44it's going to be a good one.
05:45They can't lose in front of these guys.
05:46The 2001 team's going to be there
05:48staring at them.
05:49Terp says blowout.
05:50Seven or more.
05:50Touchdown.
05:51Wow.
05:52Touchdown's a pretty bold pick.
05:53It's pretty bold.
05:54Touchdown's pretty bold.
05:56I mean, I understand
05:57the tight ends that they have,
05:59but the receivers,
05:59the lack of receivers
06:00really does just not scare me
06:02at all with this team.
06:03And they've been struggling
06:04to run the ball as well.
06:05So if you can eliminate
06:06their tight ends,
06:06and it's not perfect
06:07where you can't look at
06:08what they did with Kincaid last week
06:10and be like,
06:10okay, they can replicate that
06:11with Michael Mayer
06:13and Brock Bowers as well.
06:14But they clearly have figured
06:16something out there.
06:17And you don't necessarily
06:18have to worry about
06:19these receivers they have out there.
06:20They don't really have
06:20any game breakers.
06:21I think they're a good team
06:23that is being overrated right now.
06:24You have no corners
06:25healthy for the game.
06:26I mean, they have no receivers.
06:28You have no corners.
06:29You'd be okay with that, though?
06:30Like, what receiver
06:32is there really going to take off
06:34and change the game?
06:35Right.
06:35Who's the game breaker
06:36on that team?
06:36He might have a 60-yard catch.
06:38He's beating that horse, man.
06:39He's beating it now.
