00:28drake may is awesome you know everything's great so uh not so much for the bengals and i wanted to

00:33start there with their star wide receiver jamar chase uh has the spitting incident with jaylen

00:38ramsey gets suspended he appeals it is upheld wondering what the reaction within the league

00:43is to something like that i know they had the other incident earlier in the year uh with the

00:47eagles cowboys game with a spitting incident how how frowned upon i guess is spitting in terms of

00:53the bad things that go on in a football field well it's about as degrading an act as you could ever

00:58engage in and i don't know what your ted graduated colorado what year was that today was your last

01:03year there it was 95 uh 94 season adam okay because i was trying to think here there was an incident in

01:09colorado where bill romanowski at one point spit on jj stokes and i knew it got i remember like it

01:15was yesterday adam yep yeah me too because i covered that team and the amount of attention that it got like

01:22that was considered as vile and offensive and as demeaning as you could do now uh in this

01:31particular case you've had it happen twice this year twice yeah somebody said to me this morning

01:36like oh the league should do a better job of spelling out you know spinning is not allowed i'm like they

01:42go over they made it a point of emphasis saying sportsmanship is going to be a priority there's going

01:47to be discipline if sportsmanship is not adhered to like what do you want them to do to say

01:53specifically you can't spit you can't pick your nose and wipe it on your like what do you want them to do

01:58i i should be self-planatory but it's not and guys resort to that and obviously

02:05it's going to be well in the case of jamar chase just think about this okay he spit

02:12at jaron ramsey he is suspended for one game as the team is desperately trying to keep alive its

02:20playoff hopes which already are on the outside looking in he's now going to miss a do or die game

02:26for them and not only is he going to miss that game but it's going to cost him five hundred and seven

02:33thousand dollars yeah i don't care i don't care how much money you have or make if you're going to be

02:40fined five hundred and seven thousand dollars you're going to lose the opportunity to make

02:46five hundred and seven that that would piss off anybody i would think oh absolutely that should

02:52be a huge deterrent uh moving forward i just can't imagine somebody making the same mistake after

02:57after seeing what uh he's getting hit with for for loss of money but adam you know a very interesting

03:02maybe the first ever i've tried to look find uh another team that has done this where a team

03:08you know trades uh their quarterback into the same division in mid-season like the the browns did to

03:15the bingles so they get joe flacco he's traded there october 7th uh mike tomlin was very critical

03:21which is interesting that uh another coach and and the uh the coaches the steethers in the same

03:26division would be critical but just your thoughts of of flacco getting traded had you you know did that

03:32surprise you and were you surprised to hear mike tomlin's uh kind of criticism of that trade

03:37yeah i think a lot of people were you know it was a direct shot at andrew berry the general manager

03:45and i think some people pointed out that mike has an affection and a respect for kevin stefanski

03:52the browns coach so somebody explained it right or wrong that it was almost um

03:58it was a way to kind of support the head coach that he likes now i don't know maybe so but

04:07you know he clearly was against that and he was worried that it was going to be a situation

04:14that was going to cost them yearly and so um yeah you know it almost did you know i don't think the

04:22bang was going to fall short here but yeah he didn't like it so adam another sunday another boatload

04:30of complaints about the officials the officiating referees in the nfl uh is there any do you think

04:38this will be an off season of mild to significant change as far as the way certain plays are officiated

04:45and uh certain penalties in the nfl you know listen this this is an age old issue this is people being

04:56upset with officials it happens every single year and i i i'm sorry but i just don't know that this

05:03year is any worse than any other year like i've heard time and time again coaches all upset and worked

05:10up about the state of officiating like it's gone on for a long time this is not a new phenomena this

05:16is not new to this year i'm just i i've covered league over 35 years i i don't deserve in a season

05:23where i haven't heard people pissed off about the officials time now to get this week's drake take

05:34newton used the word fuel uh fools gold to describe the patriots and drake may do you believe there's

05:41any merit to that accusation that drake may and the patriots are fools gold what does he mean by that

05:48that we're that that they're not a first place team that they're not a playoff contender that

05:52they're not a threat to go to the super he's not a threat to like what does that mean fools goals

05:57well he kind of compared him to cubic zirconia or something cheap you could buy in the middle of

06:01the mall he kind of pointed as many not what they appear yeah not what they appear i

06:04think there was some strength of schedule crap in there all of that yeah i i uh i i don't believe

06:14that i believe that look i first of all they've already achieved more than i think a lot of people

06:22expected them to do i think they're going to win the super bowl this year no i don't but do i think

06:28they're going to win the division i do do i think they're going to host a player team yes are they

06:33going to have a chance to make noise in the post yeah they are i i don't know how that's going to

06:37go now look if they go one and done then cam will be proven right that they'll that'll be fool's gold

06:44the team will decide that in the postseason but but the fact that they're even being talked about

06:52is fool's gold at this point in time in a year when they're in a prime spot to win the division

06:57great like call them fools gold all you want it doesn't mean anything to me it's good tv good job

07:05cam but the patriots are going to have their say to prove him right or wrong in the postseason

07:13that's all that matters that's it bottom line business adam all right so a team that i'm curious

07:19just to get your thoughts on that the record would suggest they're not very good but the metrics would say

07:25that they they are a lot better than what their record would suggest and that is the kansas city

07:29chiefs they've lost two in a row they are five and five just uh your thoughts on what's going on in

07:35kansas city do you see them uh being there and making the playoffs or do you uh think that their

07:40issues are are more serious than that well i here's the deal i i think that you know they've won the

07:47division nine straight years this is going to be the first year in 10 years that they don't win the

07:52division they're not going to win it this year so i still think that they're probably going to make

07:58the playoffs and i still think like if you're new england and your first playoff game is at home

08:03against the chiefs are you feeling good about that not great not great not great no no so you know

08:10the chiefs do have some issues but their road to the super bowl is going to be longer and more

08:16challenging than it has been in other years i don't put it past them at all that they could get

08:22there i still think that team is a threat but they're going to have to do it the longer harder

08:27way than they've done in other years and adam we were bouncing this one around earlier on the show

08:32uh just wanted to get your pick if you could pick any one quarterback to start any one game regular

08:37season playoff etc that you need to win now because obviously we were all kind of leaning in on drake may

08:43who would you go with for mvp right now no to just start one game that you had to win

08:50drake may compare to who what are my options like what do we mean um lamar josh allen mahomes

08:58stafford i could pick any order i could pick one quarterback any game to win the game yes sir
