00:00What are you seeing today?
00:01Like, what was your biggest story out of the many that's going on with the Patriots right now?
00:07Yeah, it was mostly red zone work today.
00:08And the biggest story by far was the involvement of Kayshawn Booty.
00:11I mean, Mike Vrabel said he was going to be limited before when he was speaking before the practice session.
00:17That was not the case.
00:18He was one of the top receivers in there in a pretty loaded rotation.
00:21It was him and A.J. Brown really kind of switching off there.
00:25So he was really involved.
00:26The same cannot be said about Chris Gonzalez.
00:28He really participated in individual drills and the group walkthroughs.
00:33That was really it.
00:34Anything with the 11-on-11 team drills, he was off to the side with his helmet off.
00:39So he did not participate in any of those and didn't really come close.
00:42He was attentive, though.
00:42He had this, like, paper with him that he kept looking down on, so some mental reps there.
00:46But he had no teamwork for Christian Gonzalez, but Kayshawn Booty was very involved.
00:50Hey, Terp, let's focus on A.J. Brown.
00:52I'm curious, just what did he look like physically compared to maybe the other guys?
00:57Was he leading drills?
00:59Was he vocal?
01:00Did you hear him?
01:00Was he gregarious?
01:03What was A.J. Brown like in this practice?
01:08Super vocal.
01:09I mean, that was one of the things that jumped out to me because we were on the sideline right
01:11behind them.
01:12So we were pretty close.
01:13You can hear a lot that's going on on the sideline.
01:14And he was really specifically vocal in support of Drake May.
01:18He was, like, kept calling him Draco, kept complimenting him on all these passes.
01:21He was going over to the younger receivers as well.
01:23There was actually a part in individual groups.
01:25Travion Henderson was working over with the receivers, and A.J. Brown was slowing down with him, showing him, walking
01:30him through some things.
01:31So much more vocal than we saw him, obviously, in his first OTA practice, which is to be expected, right?
01:36Like he talks about it.
01:37He was like, I want to earn this role to be kind of the leader in this group.
01:41But much more vocal today.
01:42And he was awesome.
01:43I mean, he just looks like the true number one wide receiver.
01:46And, again, we don't want to – we get into this early, like, in mini camps and training camps and
01:50all this where you kind of fall for these crushes.
01:52But, like, this is a for-sure thing.
01:54Like, you know this guy is one of the top receivers in the game, and he looks all the part.
01:57Granted, it's shorts and T-shirts.
01:59It's a passing camp.
02:00But it's hard not to get excited just watching him out here and building that chemistry with Drake May.
02:05Did you happen to see – because the Patriots honestly were terrible in the red zone last year.
02:09Terrible.
02:10So they need more red zone production.
02:12Did you see the touchdown catch that A.J. Brown had?
02:16Because everybody online is basically saying it was a perfect throw, back shoulder, you can't defend.
02:21And we'll see a lot of that in the regular season.
02:23Did you see the touchdown, and what did it look like?
02:26I did, yeah.
02:26It was just kind of a fade route right there for A.J. Brown, and it was right on the
02:30money.
02:31And Keyshawn Booty had one of those as well.
02:32Actually, he was with the second team, but he was mixing it with the second team a little bit.
02:36Not a ton.
02:36He was primarily with the first team, but he had another one of those two on a fade route.
02:40He could kind of burn the cornerback and score the touchdown.
02:42So that's the red zone presence that they've been looking for.
02:45I mean, I do wonder about the tight ends, though.
02:46Obviously, they signed Julian Hill, who was supposed to be a blocking tight end, got hurt in practice, wasn't really
02:51out there.
02:51Westover was the primary tight end, too, today behind Hunter Henry.
02:55So I am interested to see what happens with that.
02:57Well, how surprised are you that Booty's that involved?
03:00That's strange.
03:00Going from, like, 0 to 100, and who's the odd man out if Booty plays more?
03:06I was super surprised by that.
03:07Like, I thought he was, like I said, Mike Grable said he was going to be limited.
03:11I didn't expect him to see really, in team drills, I wasn't really expecting to see him at all.
03:15I mean, he's been working out away from the team, but, yeah, he was there today, and, like, that was
03:20really surprising.
03:20And it seemed like, you know, Efton Chisholm, obviously, was one of the ones that wasn't really getting a ton
03:24of run,
03:24but it was kind of mixing in there.
03:26Kyle Williams, kind of like last week, was much higher on that totem pole, took a step down today.
03:30So it was really Mack Hollins, A.J. Brown, Romeo Dobbs, and even Booty was playing over Romeo Dobbs at
03:36times this afternoon,
03:38which was surprising in itself.
03:39So what was Christian Gonzalez's excuse for not being a full participant today?
03:45He didn't really have one.
03:46He was kind of standoffish on the contract stuff.
03:49Obviously, you're not expecting to get into details with it.
03:51It said it kind of takes two sides, and his agent's working on it.
03:54But he made it clear that he wants to be here, and he wants to have a long-term deal
03:57here with the Patriots.
03:58He went out and said, like, this is the team that drafted him, obviously, and he wants to be here
04:03in the long term.
04:04But there wasn't really a ton to take away there, I mean, which is to be expected.
04:08He's obviously notably short with his answers anyway, but didn't really give a whole lot there.
04:12But just kind of listening to him, I don't get the sense that it's really that close.
04:16All right, Terp.
04:17I want to just – everything you can tell me about Drake May.
04:20How did he look?
04:21His confidence?
04:22What was the accuracy?
04:23Just command?
04:24Was he making audibles?
04:26Was he boisterous?
04:28What did you see from Drake May today?
04:31It did feel like a lot of it was scripted, so there wasn't a ton of audibles.
04:34But Kevin Byard talked about it, obviously, on the defensive side.
04:37But even some of the offensive players that spoke today were talking about just his command of the huddle.
04:41And that's been a talking point for a lot of the players really throughout the offseason training here.
04:46Like, even when they were doing those – the organized OTAs and all that, and even the pre-stuff there.
04:52They were talking about just his command and his leadership and how much of a leap he's taken in that
04:56regard.
04:57So it felt like a lot of the plays there today were scripted, so we didn't really get a ton
05:00of the audibles and all that.
05:01But he definitely looks bigger, and that's something I've noticed the last couple weeks.
05:04Like, he's definitely put on the weight.
05:06Thicker?
05:06Thicker with two Cs?
05:07Thicker with two Cs.
05:09Yeah, exactly.
05:09That's the best way to put it.
05:10He definitely fits that build.
05:12So, yeah, he really couldn't take a ton away from the audibles and whatnot, all of his command of the
05:17line of scrimmage.
05:17But the command of the huddle, all the players have really kind of given him a lot of credit for
05:21that.
05:22Was there a Drake to A.J. Brown moment?
05:24Yeah, that back shoulder pass.
05:26That touchdown.
05:27In the red zone.
05:27That's the one that everyone's talking in the red zone.
05:29Yeah.
05:29Oh, but pretty much all of it was red zone today.
05:31Like, they did a couple of, like, just individual plays where they were kind of running, like, post routes and
05:36corner routes.
05:37But that's on air, and, you know, the routes are, like, 75% speed.
05:40So there wasn't a ton there.
05:41But with that back shoulder pass, man, that was beautiful.
05:44Did Will Campbell fight Caleb Lomu?
05:48Uh, no, there was none of that.
05:49None of that.
05:50Because Caleb Lomu was actually at right tackle today because there was no Morgan Moses.
05:53So that was one of the more notable absences today.
05:56Morgan Moses got hurt last week, and the OTA wasn't out there today.
05:59So Caleb Lomu was at right tackle.
06:02How did you feel about Vrabel?
06:04I mean, obviously, it's nice for him to get up there and not expect anything, you know, having to do
06:09with the shenanigans and the offseason.
06:11Does it seem like he's finally at a point where he's back to normal?
06:16It really felt like he was back to normal on day one of OTAs.
06:19Like, ever since when he was out on the field, like, it was kind of right away, he was talking
06:23crap to the players, kind of getting them going.
06:26Like, and everyone that's talked about him, all the players, that is, have kind of said there's no difference.
06:30And even Kevin Byard today is talking about how this is no different from when he played with them in
06:34Tennessee.
06:34And that was a half a decade ago.
06:36So I feel like that really hasn't translated.
06:39Obviously, like, maybe closer to the draft, it was a little bit more relevant when he's missing time and whatnot.
06:43But since the start of OTAs, it really feels just kind of normal, like this is kind of gone.
06:48And obviously, there are probably more shoes to drop whenever she may talk or something else comes out of it.
06:52But for now, it feels like it's behind everybody.
06:54What about receivers, Efton Chisholm, Kyle Williams?
06:58How did those guys look in particular?
07:01Yeah, Chisholm was pretty much with the second team all day, ripping them with them.
07:06Didn't really get a ton of looks.
07:07Kyle Williams, as well, kind of took a step back.
07:09Like, during OTAs last week, it was a lot higher in the totem pole.
07:12But that's because A.J. Brown wasn't really practicing last week and Keishon Booty wasn't here.
07:17So Kyle Williams made some plays there, popped up the speed a little bit, but really wasn't as much involved
07:23as maybe you'd like to see.
07:24But, again, it's hard to kind of really take much from these when they're in shorts and T-shirts and
07:28some of the routes are at, like, 75%.
07:30All right, Terp, good stuff.
07:32Hopefully you can get out of the backrooms-esque maze that apparently has been made there over at Boston Stadium.
07:41Is that what we're calling it now?
07:42Boston Stadium.
07:43That's what we're going with, yeah.
07:44Yeah, yeah.
07:45So hopefully you're able to get out of there just fine.
07:47Thanks for calling us.
07:48Are you – is there anything we missed?
07:51Anything stand out?
07:52Yeah, any other storylines we're missing from you today?
07:54Was Robert Kraft back?
07:55I mean, obviously the big ones are the – oh, Robert Kraft was there.
07:57Fresh off the Knicks game last night.
07:59How about that?
07:59Did you ask him why the F he was at the Knicks game?
08:02Yeah, get to the bottom of it.
08:03That's a great question.
08:04I mean, if you can get there, you can get there, I guess.
08:06Why don't they catch some good basketball?
08:08So I'm going to call it pure hoops.
08:09That's what he was going for.
08:09I would just say if you see him, tell him next time he sees DJ Khaled to take his phone
08:14away from him and to watch the damn game.
08:16Yeah, what was that all about?
08:17The entire game.
08:18Put the phone to your court side.
08:20Right.
08:21Most expensive seats, and you're watching it through your phone.
08:24Oh, there.
08:24Yes.
08:25It was not good.
08:26All right, Terp.
08:27Not good, indeed.
08:28Great stuff.
08:29We will talk to you again soon.
08:30Thanks for giving us a call.
08:31All right.
08:32All right, guys.
08:32Thanks for giving us a call.
08:32Thanks for giving us a call.
