The Specialized Aethos was once the pin-sharp, ultra-light alternative to the Tarmac. Now, it's been updated with endurance geometry. We take it for a ride on lovely country lanes to see if it still has a purpose, or if it's having an identity crisis.

00:15This is the new specialized Athos, a bike that probably needs very little introduction,
00:20but it has gone through some changes.
00:22It is no longer a pin-sharp, ultra-light, tarmac equivalent without all the aero.
00:27It has been enduranced.
00:29So, I have been riding it, lovely country lanes, to see if it can still cut it.
00:36Does it still have a purpose?
00:38Is it still cool?
00:39Is it still two fingers up to the UCI?
00:41Or has that new endurance geometry kind of mellowed it to the point where it's having
00:46a bit of an identity crisis?
00:48I will let you know in this video, fundamentally, I quite like it, but there are some buts.
