00:00The White Sox are one win away from eliminating the Guardians. This one to me is not that big of
00:06a surprise because I keep telling everybody the White Sox and the Guardians in that AL Central were like one
00:12or two games away from each other. It's not like the White Sox were far and away the better team.
00:17It's not like the Guardians were far and away the better team. I know the Guardians won the AL Central,
00:22but it's not like they were that much better than Chicago.
00:25I think both of those teams are kind of right next to each other. But Chicago, a lot of team,
00:31a lot of people right now, John, are saying that the White Sox is starting to feel like the team
00:36of destiny.
00:37They're winning these games late. They're winning these one run games. They have this awesome chemistry. They have this really
00:43wild young core that they're yelling everywhere.
00:47They're throwing champagne everywhere. They're up on top of the dugout. And usually teams like that, like you have one
00:52of those teams every so often where it's like, man, maybe they do get to the ALCS.
00:55It's like, how did they get there? How do you feel about this White Sox team?
00:59They're playing free, man. They're playing free. And that's all you can really ask for. And if you and if
01:04you look at what's left ahead of them, they need to win one more game to move on.
01:08Yeah. And if they do do the I don't think the Yankees scare the White Sox, nor do I think
01:13the Tampa Bay Rays scare the White Sox.
01:15No, I think the White Sox are too dumb to be scared. I really do. I think I think they're
01:21the high school kid. They're the high school kid in an amusement park.
01:25I will go on every ride y'all got here. Does it go upside down? I'm in. OK, does it
01:31go in a spiral? I'm in. Yeah, I know it's giving people concussions. Strap me in. Let's go.
01:37They just seem like a bunch of young players who know they're not even supposed to be here. So who
01:43cares? Let's have fun. Let's play hard. Let's win. And then let's celebrate.
01:47You know, they got a Japanese player who hit home runs and get drunk. And they feel like he don't
01:56know no English when they ask him questions in the postgame.
01:59They're fun, man. They're absolutely fun. They're great to watch. I think I think teams like that are great for
02:04baseball because we hear a lot about the payroll of the Dodgers and the payroll of the Yankees and the
02:09Mets.
02:10And and and most of baseball is a lot of payroll conversations. But when you get one of these teams
02:15in a major city, by the way, yes, that appears to just be having fun with the sport.
02:21That's infectious to the television market. It helps that it's not Tampa. It helps that it's not a small market.
02:27It helps that it is the Chicago White Sox that may help this story go further than it normally would.
02:32Let's say if it was the Kansas City Royals. Yeah. But because it's fun, I think it will draw more
02:37people to the screen.
02:38But no one knows who's on the roster. You know, outside of the Japanese kid, nobody can tell you no
02:44one else on that roster at all.
02:46Brandon Montgomery, Sean Burke, anybody? Anybody know those names? No? DJ Peers?
02:52Good luck. I mean, listen, John, I was going to ask you this. How like for the White Sox, obviously,
02:59you have the Cubs were the premier team in Chicago.
03:02They got eliminated in terrible fashion in the postseason by the Padres.
03:07How are the White Sox viewed in Chicago at this point? Like how do people in Chicago do they embrace
03:13them like they do the Cubs?
03:15Or is it just kind of different parts of the city that embrace them?
03:18It's the they're the Mets. OK, they're the Brooklyn Nets. OK, they're the Clippers.
03:25Look, man, as a Chicagoan, I can tell you with all full confidence, the city belongs to the Cubs.
03:35OK, the Cubs were winless since I think it was 1908.
03:39The White Sox won a World Series before the Cubs did.
03:43Nobody cared but Jerry Reinsdorf. The second the Cubs won a World Series, the city went bananas, utterly bananas, because
03:53sometimes you land on this.
03:55These large market teams, these large market cities can can take two teams in.
04:00But at some point, the stepchild has to exist.
04:05Here come the Mets, here come the Nets, here come the White Sox, here come the Clippers, all these teams
04:11with multiple sports of the same sport.
04:15Somebody takes the back seat because that's just the nature of the dollar that people have to spend.
04:20And the White Sox are absolutely the stepchild in the city of Chicago when it comes to baseball.
04:25The White Sox are 4-0 this postseason. They haven't lost yet.
04:29Playing some really good baseball. Good for them, you know, even if it ends in the ALCS or whatever.
