‘American Idol’ alum Caleb Flynn’s daughters confront him over mother’s murder

Former “American Idol” contestant Caleb Flynn was sentenced to life in prison without parole Monday for the murder of his wife, Ashley Flynn, in Tipp City, Ohio. He was found guilty on all nine charges after jurors deliberated for roughly 2½ hours.

During the sentencing hearing, Flynn’s daughters delivered emotional messages through letters read in court. One daughter asked, “How could you do such a thing? I looked up to you. I loved you with all my heart.” She also questioned, “What did she ever do to make you hate her so much?” She wrote that she still prays for her father to confess and repent.

His other daughter, Alyssa, told him, “The least you could do is tell everyone you did it and receive your outcome.” She also wrote, “I don’t plan on coming to see you.”

Flynn sobbed as the letters were read. Before sentencing, he apologized to his daughters and Ashley’s family, saying they remained his “greatest joy.” However, he continued to deny killing Ashley.

Flynn told the court, “I did not kill my wife,” and said he would continue fighting to prove his innocence.

The case involved an alleged affair, more than 100,000 messages and prosecutors’ claims that Ashley’s death was staged to look like an intruder attack.
