00:00This is Winnie and her story is devastating. A man threw her off a pier and the damage was so
00:07bad
00:07she lost both her back legs. But Winnie's story isn't even the most unbelievable one here.
00:14Every single dog in this video has been given a second chance at life. And by the end of this
00:18story I promise you, you're going to be just as amazed as I was. So come with me, let's go
00:25meet them.
00:30We're at Flory's Friends Rescue, a place that's dedicated to giving the most severely disabled
00:36and mentally complex animals a second chance. And you might have already noticed something,
00:42every dog here has lost their back legs. I can already tell one of these dogs has completely
00:52stolen our hearts and trust me, her story is unbelievable. To be honest, they all have
00:58incredible stories and we'll get into those a little later. But first we want to give you full
01:03access to this amazing place. You've met some of the dogs. Now let's meet the incredible woman behind
01:09it all, Natalia, and take a look around to see what makes this rescue so special.
01:14Little things like every area's ramp. I don't know if you've noticed. Their wheelchair parking bays
01:19keeps their wheelchairs out from the rain. This is where we get them ready for their walks.
01:23And later on in the video, we actually get to walk all of these amazing dogs. So stick around for
01:29that
01:29because how they walk them is just insane. Obviously we live in a bungalow, which is really helpful.
01:35This is actually Natalia's home. Yes, she lives here and she converted it to become a specialist dog rescue.
01:41Dogs all have about four or five beds in each room. Everything's mimicked to a normal house. It's all for
01:48dogs. Everything's turfed. That sofa was made just for them so they can get up and onto it. These are
01:52our
01:53rehab rooms for wild cats. So in and out they can sort of learn to be in a home environment.
02:02They've all got their radio stations. They've got their heaters. So here is where they learn to be
02:07domesticators. So they even have cats here too and rotors for their medication. This place is so
02:13well run. So this is where we normally have between 8 and 15 in here. This is the wild cats
02:19only in here
02:20and it's just us trying to transition them into normal life. Robot litter trays, self-cleaning.
02:26They've got countless hardy holes for the cats. All the beds are heated. They get new toys in rotation
02:31every single night and the way they rehab the cats is with reading. People will come in and read to
02:38the cats as a person speaking can stress out a wild cat. And then Natalia said this.
02:44We've done about 400 cats in here by the way. Have you? Yeah, yeah. We do loads of cats. This
02:49is their
02:49bedroom and they do all sleep in here. And they've all got their designated beds. She wants to go on
02:55the
02:55bed now. Look, Helen, do you want to go on the bed? Is that what you want to go on
02:58the bed? I'll put you on.
03:01So this is their bedroom slash your bedroom? Yeah, so I'm only in here to fall asleep.
03:06These guys, this is their safe zone. When they have done all their walks and stuff and they know
03:12because our routine is so strict, they know at certain times they're expected to do nothing.
03:16They will come in here and sleep. What Natalia has built here is honestly incredible. Tour done.
03:22But why do these dogs need such specialist care? Well, let's go into some of their stories.
03:29I think it's only right we start with the gorgeous Winnie. Her previous owner threw her
03:34off Brighton Pier while allegedly under the influence of drugs, leaving her paralyzed in
03:39her back legs and with several other serious injuries. Most people would have assumed there
03:44was no hope, but not Natalia. She believes disabled dogs deserve the same chance at life
03:50as anyone else. She gave Winnie everything she needed and just look at her now. She's happy,
03:57she's full of life and later on you'll see just how incredible that second chance really is.
04:03But somehow, Winnie's story isn't even the most unbelievable one here. This is Nellie. She's
04:09only 18 months old. She was found while she was still producing milk after having puppies,
04:15but heartbreakingly, her puppies were never found. Then she was shot, leaving her paralyzed. I've muted
04:22the footage here because hearing her cry in pain is genuinely difficult to listen to. But just like
04:28Winnie, Natalia refused to give up on her. She got every surgery Nellie needed and now she spends her
04:35days surrounded by people who love her. Every single dog here has a crazy story like this and just taking
04:42care of all 11 of them is an incredible job. Stories told, let's now help feed them.
04:49So what do they get fed?
04:50So their base core food is Nutrient Raw, which is raw meat, well burn your spirulina, salmon skin, broccoli,
04:58carrots. They've obviously got a lot of medications. We've got the Salmon Oil, the Cannabis CBD,
05:055,000 milligrams. It's 130 pound a bottle, but it's the tip. Hopefully they watch this and they can
05:11sponsor you guys. And then we've got fruit, veg toppers, and then here we would have like fresh
05:19jerky, chickens, chicken sticks, just as a crunchy topper. So as you can imagine, each dog is on quite
05:24a bit of medication. So they've got trackers for each dog and pill pots for the actual medication.
05:29All dogs are wasting very patiently and Ella decided to give a helping hand.
05:34So two pumps of that on every meal. Do they all get a slow feeder?
05:38Yeah, everyone by summer because she's not the smartest. And then a vial of the kidney vitamins as well.
05:44I didn't eat that summer.
05:47All right, all the food's ready and just look at this. Every bowl is packed with toppers, supplements,
05:53and everything each dog needs. Honestly, if there's a next life, I want Flory's friends to rescue
05:59me. And somehow it gets even more impressive. Natalia has taught every single one of these
06:04dogs to eat together peacefully with absolutely no food aggression. If you've ever owned dogs,
06:10you'll know just how difficult this is to achieve.
06:13When you spin. When you spin. Yep.
06:16Oh my God, that's the cutest thing I've ever seen.
06:19Oh, oh, excuse me.
06:24And then we've got Fern in that corner.
06:26Oh Fernie, come on down.
06:27No, no. Nearly.
06:29Oh, she's scared of me.
06:30That's all right. Right, she'll come.
06:31Look at that there. I'll run away.
06:33Nellis, that's yours.
06:34And then Susan, you can give where she is because she's a bit frightened.
06:37Aw. She can have it in bed today. Normally she doesn't.
06:41Oh, look at her.
06:42Oh no.
06:43Will she eat it on the floor?
06:45Yeah, she'll come to it when you walk away. That's it.
06:48With dinner now complete, we spent some time with the dogs and really took in what Natalia has built
06:53here. These dogs get red light therapy, hydrotherapy, regular vet care. They're even toileted multiple
07:00times a day. The level of care is honestly hard to put into words. It made me wonder why someone
07:06would dedicate their entire life to dogs that so many people would have given up on. So I sat down
07:11with Natalia to find out. Why do you do this? Because no one else will. And also how many people
07:20get to say that they got to make the end of their lives dignified and nice. So it's such a
07:27privilege
07:27to be able to do. A lot of people see it as sad, which I guess it is, but what
07:32a privilege.
07:33Yeah. I've guaranteed your happiness at the end, whereas normally the end is painful, sad and bad,
07:40but we've made it the complete opposite. I'm not going to lie, Natalia's answer got me a bit emotional,
07:45so I started petting Winnie as my emotional support dog. One thing I haven't mentioned yet is that almost
07:51every dog here is an end of life dog. Because of their medical conditions, many of them may only
07:57have a year or two left. Not Nelly though, she's still got plenty of adventures ahead of her. And
08:02that's what makes what Natalia does so special. She knows she can't always give these dogs a long life,
08:08but she makes absolutely sure she can give them the best life. Interview done and we've saved the best
08:20until last, because we're about to take every single dog here out for a walk. But before we do,
08:26I just want to say one thing. Everything you've seen today only exists because of donations. Flory's
08:32friends spends easily around £30,000 every single month caring for these incredible dogs. And if we
08:39all came together and pledged just £1 a month, imagine the difference we could make for dogs like
08:44Winnie and Nelly. You can scan the QR code on screen or use the link below to become a monthly
08:50supporter.
08:51We wanted to lead by example, so we've also donated £500 ourselves and set up a £50 monthly donation.
08:58Okay, let's roll out. So first things first, jackets get put on all the dogs. It's the UK, the weather
09:05isn't very nice.
09:06Then one by one, they're placed into this custom-made van. They've all got their own crate. Dogs are super
09:12excited to go on a walk.
09:13Then we have the adorable Fern, who's still a bit unsure of us.
09:18She's scared of me.
09:19Come on, be brave. Yeah.
09:26That's the cutest thing. You may be thinking it's a bit dark back there for the dogs once the van
09:31is
09:31shut. But don't worry, Natalia has literally thought of everything. What's their lights? Oh,
09:37so they could see back there? Yeah, we don't know how they're rising in the dark.
09:40I can film everything. Then all 11 wheelchairs are put in. These things are amazing. I'll explain a little bit
09:46more
09:47about them later. And a prosthetic leg for Elle. So time to get them ready. All wheelchairs are
09:53custom-made for the dogs. As you can imagine, they're super expensive but they're incredibly robust
09:58and it means the dogs can run around freely in them. So only thing left to do
10:02is let the dogs have the time of their lives.
10:06Come on, doggies! Come on! Come on! Come on! Come on, doggies!
10:27Sadly, because of Winnie's condition, she can only walk for short periods. So for most of
10:32the walk, she rides along in her stroller, but she's still part of the pack every step of the way.
10:38Then we reach this gate and Natalia told us this is Winnie's favourite part of the walk.
10:43So they got her back into her wheelchair and just watch her reaction.
10:47There she goes! Come on, Winnie! Come on, Winnie!
10:58Come on, Winnie!
11:00Go, Winnie, go!
11:05And that's the walk done. Honestly, a massive thank you to Natalia and every volunteer.
11:11What you guys have built is genuinely incredible and I really hope we can all come together and
11:16support them by donating just £1 a month. Imagine how many more dogs like Winnie could get a second
11:21chance. Thank you so much for watching. If you enjoyed this video, YouTube thinks you'll love this
11:26one on screen now, so I'll see you over there.
11:29Let's see you in the next video.
11:29I'll see you in the next video.
11:29Bye.
