00:00All right, looking at radar, though, we are starting to see some downpours develop as we see things shift towards
00:06the I-95 corridor here.
00:08You see the yellows, the oranges popping up, but really not lightning.
00:11So some brief downpours that can cause even more of an annoyance than just some of the scattered showers that
00:17we're seeing,
00:17but not talking about a lot of flash flooding, not talking about severe storms, anything like that.
00:22And this just emphasizes that.
00:24We look at Burlington with about a quarter of an inch of rain over the last 24 hours,
00:29but compare that to Detroit with about an inch and a half over the last 24 hours.
00:34Very much a difference what we're seeing east to west from this same system,
00:37because it is the same system that we've been talking about leading to flash flooding in the central U.S.
00:43the last several days,
00:44and then even earlier on in the week, the southwest.
00:46This weekend, a couple things happen here.
00:49So the cold front, it drops our temperatures down.
00:51I mean, take a look at this.
00:5360s, low 70s for our highs.
00:55Yeah, that's the first weekend of October, and it feels like it.
00:58But we still have some rainfall icons, so let's talk about why that is.
01:02Our cold front clears the northeast tonight, but the southeast, for you, it stalls out.
01:08In the mid-Atlantic, you just get stuck in between with some of that rain.
01:11But keep in mind, those rain chances, they are higher further to the south.
01:15The flash flooding we're talking about, that is isolated to the southeast,
01:18and it's something Jeff's going to break down for you a little bit more.
01:20But I want to show you future radar, give me an idea of how this plays out and what this
01:24actually looks like.
01:24And then the other features that we're watching that are going to impact our weekend.
01:28So Saturday morning, here we are with the front still causing problems in the mid-Atlantic.
01:33We have some downpours here, but nothing too high impact.
01:35Then Sunday, there's two features to watch.
01:38We're going to watch around the coast, and then we're going to watch this feature dive its way into the
01:45northern portion of the region.
01:47We'll play this out.
01:49And there we go.
01:50It's not anything major.
01:51This is not like another nor'easter, thank goodness, because we do not need another one of those for a
01:55while.
01:57Lighter rainfall, upstate New York, northern New England, compared to the east coast.
02:01But it's still nothing too high impact.
02:04It's just enough to get in the way of your Sunday plans that you might want to play in the
02:07outdoor stuff for Saturday rather than Sunday, if you can adjust.
02:11I know, maybe it's a football game.
02:13It's something like that that you can't really adjust the day.
02:16But Saturday is going to be your nicer day for the outdoor plans.
02:20As we head into next week, we continue with the cooler air that this cold front ushers in for us.
02:25Here's the thing, though.
02:26Our long-range team, talking about October overall, most of the northeast were either a little bit warmer or right
02:33about on par with historical averages because we keep bouncing back and forth.
02:36We get these cold shots, and then we warm up in between.
02:39But when we do get the cold shots, like we do early next week, we have frost and freeze potential
02:43to talk about.
02:44For some of you, this is the first frost or freeze that we've had of the season.
02:47So if you have any flowers, like what we saw in Blue Mountain Lake, or any plants outside that you
02:52want to make sure they survive the frost or freeze, cover them up.
02:55Bring them inside Monday morning.
02:57So Sunday overnight into Monday if you're on this map, or Monday overnight into Tuesday if you're in pink on
03:04this map.
