00:00Let's go take a little sneak peek over to Iowa.
00:03And I mentioned there, Tim, 7-3 Ohio State is.
00:07They've only played 10 times since 2003.
00:10I was fortunate enough to be part of one of the beatdowns over there in 2004.
00:15I think we're 1-3 in Iowa, or maybe 2-3 in our last five trips.
00:21It's not a great number, especially with that 2017 beatdown.
00:27Much different Iowa team, but they do the same things.
00:30Obviously, it's a different Ohio State team.
00:32Ryan Day, one of the few people on staff who has been to Iowa for a game.
00:37Very unique environment.
00:40This number has crept up on Ohio State.
00:42It was under two touchdowns.
00:44I'm seeing above two now.
00:47Point total is sitting there at about staying around the same, around 45.
00:50Thoughts on this bad boy?
00:52Yeah, so I was really hoping that Ryan Day would bring up the 2017 game and kind of, you know,
01:00we all know that coaches find any morsel of things to make motivation.
01:04I was hoping that he would, and maybe he is.
01:06You guys would know better than me.
01:07Maybe he's keeping it close to the vest and reminding the guys.
01:11I don't know.
01:11Is the facility playing the 2017 game on loop?
01:16Just to remind them of what is possible at Kinnick Stadium.
01:19You know, when I look at this game, I know the atmosphere is going to be amazing.
01:23Game day is there for the first time in two decades when it was there for an Ohio State-Iowa
01:28game,
01:29an Ohio State victory, and I believe cover in that spot.
01:32So, yeah, you're looking at a big number here.
01:34You know, a year ago, Iowa was right there with Indiana, man.
01:39And if not for a mistake late in that game, Iowa might have pulled off the outright upset against Indiana.
01:45So we know that this is a challenging place to play.
01:48I just, I look at this Iowa team, guys, and I have a hard time envisioning how they score.
01:55And I know Illinois had success last week, which maybe makes me a little bit nervous regarding the defense here.
02:01But I look at this Iowa team, and this isn't a knock-on on what Ferentz is doing.
02:07He is obviously, you know, each and every time they go out there, you know it's going to be a
02:12grinder.
02:12They're probably going to make a special teams play.
02:14They'll get a turnover, but let's look at their two biggest games so far this year.
02:18They were a two-touchdown favorite against Iowa State and won by three with a game-winning field goal.
02:23And then you look at last week, and they get the victory, not taking it away.
02:28It was kind of sweet justice that Michigan loses on a final play of the game the way that they
02:34did based off of the season opener against Western Michigan.
02:37But I look at this Iowa team maybe flirting with disaster a little bit here.
02:42So, once again, I go back to my original altar of I don't necessarily lay points on the road here.
02:50But I just have a hard time envisioning how Iowa has sustained success offensively.
02:55So, I think maybe, you know, Iowa team total under would probably be a look for me.
03:00But I have not met this game yet because I wanted to make the case for Iowa.
03:04I really did, but I just can't get there.
03:07I think there will be a part of Ryan Day that remembers what happened in 2017, and they'll be fired
03:14up and ready to go for this one.
03:16I think a big-time factor for Iowa winning would be on the defensive side.
03:20How do you see D.C. Phil Parker dealing with Jeremiah Smith?
03:24Because he absolutely torched them last year.
03:26And then this last game, he just got another D.C. fired.
03:29Like, do you think he's really going to lay it all on the line?
03:31Like, we are going to stop him from getting two touchdowns, 150 yards, and then just kind of hope that
03:36some of these other guys, like, are the guys that, like, make plays?
03:39Is it even possible, though?
03:41Like, honestly, I'm asking the guy.
03:43I don't know.
03:44Like, you guys have played at elite levels.
03:47I have not.
03:47I've sat on the couch and watched a lot of college football.
03:50I don't know how you stop Jeremiah Smith.
03:52You know, it's funny.
03:54I think back to the national title in, you know, 2024 when they needed to play, even when he was
04:00a freshman.
04:00They're like, we got to throw at the four.
04:02And they did, and they won the game against Notre Dame.
04:05So I just feel like right now I'm looking at this Jeremiah Smith.
04:09I'm like, this guy looks unstoppable.
04:11And, you know, they're just going to keep going to him.
04:13And that's what's kind of fascinating, not to go into a tangent.
04:17But, you know, I think about Cam Coleman and the discussion preseason about, you know, who's not that Cam Coleman
04:23was in the discussion to be better than Jeremiah Smith.
04:26It was like, this guy's 1B to Jeremiah Smith's 1A.
04:28And, you know, once again, Tennessee's very good defensive team.
04:32But the fact that he had one catch for 30 yards, there's no way outside of injury that Jeremiah Smith
04:37would ever have a game with one catch for 30 yards.
04:39Like, they know he's a cheat code right now.
04:42Him and Malachi Tony are just so special in that regard.
04:46So I don't know.
04:47Phil Parker's a very good defensive coordinator, as we all know.
04:50I'm sure he's probably had some sleepless nights this week trying to figure out if there's a way to potentially
04:56slow down four.
