00:01Liverpool's household recycling centres have switched to shorter winter opening hours.
00:05The city's two sites at Old Swan and Otterspool are now open from 8 in the morning until 5 in
00:11the afternoon instead of the summer closing time of 8 in the evening. The change is linked to
00:16darker nights according to Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority. There are 16 household waste
00:23recycling centres across the Liverpool city region operated by Veolia. They accept batteries,
00:30cardboard garden waste, glass, wood and electrical items. Disposable vape bins are also available
00:36at all sites. The centres become extremely busy at peak times so visits should be planned carefully.
