00:00If you're planning your Christmas clear-out or working out when to put the bins out,
00:04Liverpool City Council says it's worth checking twice this year.
00:08Revised bin collection services are in place across the city over the Christmas and New Year period,
00:13with changes starting from Christmas Day.
00:16Stickers have already been placed on bins to alert residents,
00:19but the council says dates will be different for everyone.
00:23All collections are being moved back by between one and four days.
00:26To manage the extra demand, refuse crews will also be working across three Saturdays after Christmas
00:32to make sure waste is collected as early as possible.
00:35Households with food waste collections are being advised to continue putting their caddy out
00:40alongside their purple and blue bins as normal on their revised collection day.
00:46Liverpool City Council says normal bin services will resume on Monday 19th January 2026.
00:53Residents can check their next collection date by entering their postcode
00:56on the council's website or by using the full list of revised dates published by the local authority.
01:02The council is also encouraging people to recycle as much as they can over the festive period.
01:07Dry recyclables should be placed loose into blue bins, including plastic bottles,
01:11glass jars and bottles, paper and crushed cardboard.
01:14Food waste should not go into the blue bin and bottles and jars should be rinsed first.
01:18For households with excess waste, Liverpool's household waste recycling centres do remain available.
01:25The sites at Otterspool and Old Swan are open from eight in the morning until five in the afternoon
01:29on all days except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
01:34Meanwhile, green bin collections for garden waste are suspended over winter
01:38and according to the council will restart at the end of February 2026.
