Residents across Liverpool can now recycle more materials as part of national changes to simplify collections. The council says the move will make recycling easier and more consistent.

00:06into effect under the Environment Act 2021. The changes aim to make collections more consistent
00:12across England. From now on, items including plastic pots, yoghurt containers, food trays,
00:19cartons and aerosol cans can all be placed in the same bin. Existing materials like glass,
00:24paper and bottles remain accepted. The council says items should be rinsed and not crushed
00:30before collection. Recycling is sorted at a specialist facility. A separate food waste
00:35collection continues to be rolled out across the city and residents will be contacted when
00:40their household has been selected for this.
