00:01Liverpool residents will be able to recycle a wider range of items from home starting from
00:06the 1st of April. The changes to household recycling collections mean items such as biscuit
00:11tins, aerosols, foil, plastic food pots, tubs, trays and tetrapacks can now go in the blue
00:17recycling bin. Collection days remain unchanged. The move supports the government's simpler
00:23recycling requirements under the Environment Act 2021, aiming to make recycling consistent
00:30across England. Mixed recycling will continue to be sorted at facilities before being transformed
00:36into new products. Councillors say the changes will reduce confusion, increase recycling rates
00:42and protect the environment.
